The Granfondo Garneau-Québecor is an annual 118-km bike ride between Trois-Rivières and St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, and is now in it's 7th year of existence. The goal of the event is to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle while raising funds for the Little Brothers foundation. The event is intended as much for cycling enthusiasts as for experience athletes. Last year, the event attracted close to 3,000 riders.
The 7th edition will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2015, starting at 10:00 am. Riders will leave Trois-Rivières, at the Alphone-Desjardins Sports Center starting point, and will arrive at the Louis Garneau Sports factory finish line in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures in the afternoon. Several groups will be formed according to cyclists’ average riding speeds.
Since its creation in 2009 by Louis Garneau Sports, the Granfondo has been very much involved in the community to support charities dedicated to the well-being of the elderly. In six years, over $290,000 have been donated to the Little Brothers organization in Quebec.
