Event Description

For everyone who has ever wanted to try track riding, come to London on March 5.  I have reserved 10 spaces for the BCC in the "Track 1" (learn to ride) session at the Forest City Velodrome in London.

Please respond ASAP to this invitation to confirm that you'll attend.  Sessions book up upward of a month in advance, and we need to give the FCV final numbers very quickly so that they can release the unused spaces to other riders.

Date/Time: March 5, 12:00-3:00.  Arrive at 11:30 to do some paper work, get changed and select your bike.

Cost: $30 (cash).  A huge bargain for the three hour instructional session including the bike rental.

What to bring: pedals, shoes, helmet, cool weather riding clothes (wear layers because it can be chilly on the track, 8-12C).

If the $30 includes rental, I'll probably just leave mine at home.  Thanks for the personal reminder about this event Jon.

Adding Jamie and her father to the list, I've confirmed 11 spaces with the FCV.  I think the session's capacity is 14 or 16.  If anybody else wants to join us, please post here and I'll contact FCV to see if there is still space.

I confirmed the 12th spot with FCV for Ian.  They have only one more spot available in the session. If you're still interested, let me know quickly...before they sell it to somebody else.

FCV now lists the March 5 session as "sold out".

Hello there all of you fellow crazy Velodrome folk,

Patryk and I are planning on going out after the Velodrome to an amazing vegan restaurant in London called Veg Out. It is truly delicious and worth the trip. It's located in downtown London on Richmond Street.

If any of you would like to join us let us know.

Brooke :)

Google maps link.

The "Wellington Rd. South" address that comes up on Google maps is misleading.  The building is actually set back from Wellington by about 2 blocks.  You have to access it from a side street.

- Exit Hwy 401 at Wellington Rd. (Exit 186).
- Turn left (south) and cross over the 401.
- Turn left (east) at the first light, Roxburgh Road.
- Continue past Wilton Grove Rd.
- Look for the white and grey building with a pointed top on the right.

Some extra stuff to bring
- Your typical food/drink for a 3 hour ride.
- Measurements from your road bike (Saddle height from the centre of the BB to top of the saddle going along the seat tube; nose of saddle to centre of handlebars).  You'll most likely eye-ball the size to pick your bike, it but it can't hurt to bring the numbers.
- Clear or light sunglasses if you've got them.
- Floor pump.  Theirs take lots of of abuse and don't work very well.  I'll bring one.  If 4-5 others do as well then we're all set.  Pack a pedal wrench, too, if you've got one.

See everybody at 11:30 on Saturday.

I have room for up to 3.  But be aware that I am planning to go to the vegan restaurant that Brooke mentioned afterwards.

Hello there.  Was speaking with Simon at Cycle Solutions yesterday and he told me to be sure to pack food/snacks for this, as there is no food for sale at the velodrome, and that he found that when he went, he didn't eat enough and felt dizzy as a result of the riding laps and lack of food.  Just wanted to pass that along.  See you tomorrow!
