I'm also running the half, so no beaches for me either. Oh well, I run that stretch all the time anyway. Thanks for posting!

Hi All.  I'm running the full marathon next week.  If any spectators are out, I'll be wearing my green TRI kit.  Thanks in advance for some much needed motivation.  By the time we reach the turnaround in the beaches heading back downtown, there's only 10K left.  This will be my first marathon (besides the marathon distance run within the Ironman two months ago).  My goal is to qualify for Boston which requires a sub 3:10 performance.  Good luck to everyone!

Will be running my first full marathon, with Jane. Good luck to Jason C. on his Boston goal, and Jason S. and Andrew!

I hope everyone had a great day. Thanks to everyone who cheered us on. Official times aren't posted yet but I qualified for Boston with a time of approximately 3:05. Mission accomplished! My body feels like hell. Having done an Ironman two months ago, my opinion is that a marathon at top speed is slightly harder.

I took my kids down to cheer for a bit.  We were at the 37 km mark (Eastern & Leslie) at about 1 pm), so we didn't see any of the fast runners.

Outstanding effort to all when you factor in all of the elements. Jason, while it is hard to fathom the statement that running a standalone marathon is harder than running a marathon at the end of Ironman, I agree wholeheartedly that it takes much more out of you. If you are able to descend any stairs today, my hat goes off to you. Hearty congrats on Boston, that is a huge nut to crack and you did it on your first go.

Great job Jason C., congrats. Did you hop on a trainer for a couple hours before to warm up Ironman style?

Thanks to everyone who came out (esp. those that volunteered) even if we didn't run out to the beach, I know everyone who did appreciated your support. I sure appreciated those out in the wet on the west end.

My Dad and I came in a little faster than our target time of 1:50 at 1:48. He had a great run! At 58 I hope to be running as well as he is (came 59th/220 in his category, hell I was top 36th% in my category). I'm not a big long distance runner, but this experience has made me think about trying for Boston myself in a couple years.
Brian and Jason S., how were your races?

Congrats to everyone on a job well done.  Amazing to see so many people out in what looked like the beginning of a very nasty day.   Lots of supporters - thanks to everyone!

Unfortunately, I had to abandon at the 9.5k Medical tent.  I reinjured my calf again and had to pull up.   I felt good at the start of the race and was moving along quite well until I felt a small pop. I wish I could have finished, but not worth risking major injury.
