Edit on the below.
Our kids are getting upsized to new bikes this year and I'll be selling their old ones- all in excellent shape. I have 2 Giant 20" Revels (MTB's- 7 gear, Canti brakes). $175 each or $300 for both. Will also be selling their race bikes. These are hard to find 24" 10 speeds.
I have one Argon 18 and one Garneau Axis. $350 each. (They are about $800 new). Let me know if anyone is interested!
Hope to see you on the road soon! DaveO.
Hope all is well DaveO.
I am interested in a road bike for my son. He is about 4'10''... he rides and XS track bike, but not sure of the fits for a road bike.
Would consider either bike for him if right fit.
Get back to me and we can discuss further.
Yes- all is ok! I'm in brutal cycling shape for the start of the season- but oh well- it's been that kind of winter! (Had a couple of crashes that set me back- but all healed now). Hope you're doing well too! Fit is definitely the most important thing. If you guys want to come by and test ride, that may be the best idea? Jason, if you are interested I have one of Connor's old bikes which I'd be happy to lend for the summer. It's old and there is an issue with the headset, but it still works quite well.
The problem with the headset is that you can't tighten it up enough and as a result, I always tightened it by hand after each use. Probably not my best purchase. Connor raced for 1.5 years with the bike with the headset issue.
The bike is an Aquila - 650 wheels. The frame size is probably 44cm? or thereabouts? If he's 4'10", then it will be the right fit. It's pretty light.
Let me know if you are interested.
your option for the $$ sounds like a solid solution for a kid that just wants to use it on the trainer. He's not up for the road, but he wants a bike for conditioning and the odd ride outside (Niagara) with his dad.
I am going to assume that the 650 wheelset won't be an issue with a Kurt Kinetic Trainer or are you aware of any issues?
Sam is in a tricky period with respect to bike sizes. He rides the XS Argon 18 Track bikes, which have a top tube effective 52"... So, I figure he's just shy of an adult (XS) road bike, but in one years time he should be able to make that jump. Actually, you would know better as you have had lots of experience with your kids and bikes.
If you're game to loan me the bike for the summer, I would be happy to take you up on it.
Hi Jason. You are welcome to borrow the bike for as long as you need.
Yes, Kurt Kinetic trainers work with smaller wheels.
My number is 647-202-9377.
Can I send you a direct email to work out a time to pick up the bike from you? I am in the upper beaches area, so I am assuming we live fairly close to one another.
Sure. Email is mikedmcinnis at gmail dot com
