Paris Ancaster with the whole family

Posted on April 27, 2014 at 9:00pm 3 Comments

What an epic cycling day for the Cuthbertson family yesterday!  For the first time, we all took part in the Paris Ancaster event.  Willa did the skills camp (but she wants to race the 40 next year), Lynn Dee, Morgan and I rode the 70.  Great weather, good times!  Great to see so many BCC'ers out there.  Field was fast (Steve Bauer was 134th), lots of cyclocross bikes out there.

Here's a couple of post race photos.  Still smilin'...…

Kleinberg boogie

Posted on June 30, 2013 at 10:33pm 7 Comments

Perhaps not the wisest choice after 3 weeks off due to other commitments but a truly epic ride for me this season. Gorgeous weather, great pace, no traffic and impressive countryside. I was pretty much done by the time we got back to Kleinberg (75km) but thanks to Roy, Simon and others, got back to the van at Major Mac and Leslie. I'm thinking seriously of driving back there this week with Lynn Dee to do the loop after Kleinberg again. Thanks to all for a great ride.

The 20th annual P-A is in the books.  Great weather for the event this year, 2,200 riders, nice tailwind, lots of mud!  I saw many BCC riders on the course which was great!  I had a bit of a mechanical challenge (front brake partly on the whole way, just what you want!) but still had a good time out there on the gravel.  Race was well organized as usual and quick with winning times sub 1:45.  I was impressed by the bike handling skills of the cyclocross racers as they flew through ankle deep…

Flatty says thank you

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 4:33pm 3 Comments

Thanks to everyone today for your help and patience as I managed to set a new record for flat tires in one day - 3.  I owe tubes, pulls and beers at the 'Dog for sure.  You should be comforted by the knowledge that I vow to get new rubber before my next group ride and even went today to hook that up but CS was closed.

In the meantime, enjoy the "Beyond the Peleton" series link here.  …

BCC Rides

Cycling in the summer can be about casual riding, sprinting, spinning, big-ring hammerfests or what ever your chosen type of riding is. The BCC was founded for the sole purpose to network cyclists. It has grown into a successful club which accommodates Riders at almost all skill/fitness levels. Everyone should be able to participate and have fun at their respective levels.

Weekend Rides:

Saturday Morning
Start time is 8:00am early season, 7:00am as days get longer. Route distances vary from 55-120km and several pace groups are available. Saturday morning rides focus on a social vibe.

Sunrise Sundays
Rides will start around sunrise. Rotating routes will focus on distances from 100-160km. Once a month, a destination ride will be posted.

Weekly Rides:

Advanced Turbo Tuesdays
For this ride, advanced group riding and bike handling skills are required. You must also be aware of your limitations. Riding speed is 35-45kph.

Hillicious Thursdays
Starts at 5:40am. This ride includes Brimley repeats, a Beaches hill loop, and/or other local hills.

Starts at 6:30pm. Bring your CX or MTB out for a great Don trail ride. Some weeks, we'll head to a local park to practice CX skills.

Other Rides:

Unofficial Non-Club Rides
Use this group page to organize informal rides outside of the regularly scheduled BCC rides. Keep in mind that these rides will not have BCC insurance coverage.
