Dear fellow BCCers,
I have had some requests for stories about some of my longer rides this summer.
Here is my account of the 600km ride I did in late July with the Randonneurs Ontario. It is called The March to the Nuke. Please follow the link to Wordpress where my blog is hosted. Enjoy.
WANT TO RIDE TO BUFFALO NEXT WEDNESDAY WITH KELD?
Next week I'm among 12 riders who will embark on an epic 5 day, 800km ride journey from Toronto to New York City on Sept. 26th in support of Camp Ooch.
With the R2//NYC SEND-OFF FONDO we have created an opportunity for those of you who could not join us on the entire 5-day journey, to still take part, joining us on the first leg of the ride; 162km from Toronto to Buffalo, NY.
Registration for the R2//NYC…

Dear BCC friends,
As most of you know, my road back from a potentially fatal cycling accident 3 years ago has been a long one. I know all too well how life can change in an instant and how important it is to try and live a ‘normal’ life as you stare down medical challenges.
To help push my progress along and make a difference for other’s along the way, I’m committing myself to a 5 day (avg. 157km/day) inaugural cycling fundraiser from Toronto to…Continue
Hey everybody. I did it! I made it to the end of this crazy race and covered the 169 km and nearly 4000 meters of vertical gain. It wasn't pretty, I was slow, it took me over 10 hours, but I made it! What an event. The organization is very impressive. The start was not as tight as I expected. Close…Continue
Not a racer - doesn't matter. Don't own a TT bike, the newest aero helmet, nor crazy expensive ZIPP disc wheels - doesn't matter. You already a racer - then you've probably already signed up so I'm not likely talking to you (what, you haven't - get on that!).
The organizer of the Individual Time Trial provincials made this event as open as possible. There are all the typical racer categories (Masters age based, or Elite) as well as a non-UCI TT categories (30 or 40km) and an…Continue

Come out to mindset CYCLING any time between noon on Friday, March 23 and noon on Saturday, March 24. Jason will be doing a 24-hour indoor training ride as part of his preparations for Race Across America.
You read that correctly: 24 hours on either one of mindset's CompuTrainers or totally awesome E-Motion rollers. To re-create some of the RAAM experience, he'll ride a computer simulation of the race route…Continue

A warm welcome to all the new BCC Members and welcome back to all the returning BCC'ers.
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the 2018 Season to get started I know I am!.
For those returning BCC'ers if you could take a moment to share some of your memorable experiences as a member off the BCC, just so some of the new members and potential members can get a flavour of what to expect in the Spring.
I wanted to do a quick summary of my first road season now, as it is clear that I won’t be able to attend either of the Kitchener crits or Bike the Bruce. Too bad as I was really hoping I could swing both of the criteriums, but such is life.
My main goal of this write-up is to encourage anyone who’s considered racing in the past to seriously consider coming out to a race or two (or four, or five…) next year to give it a go, and which races you might want to consider to start off…Continue
It was a dark and stormy Thursday morning when a van pulled up in front of my house, two guys jumped out, grabbed my bike and luggage and suddenly I was seated in the back seat of the van, my bike on the roof and I was taken to a local coffee shop, the Birchcliff, where we met up with some others with bike mounted on the roof or in the back seat of vehicles. This looked ominous, until I realized it was fellow members of the Beaches Cycling Club and my imagination was…Continue
Lots of fun for BCC Youth (and a couple of "youth at heart") on Friday! Facility is Joyride150 in Markham. Amazingly fun place to hang with your kids (or without them!) Here's a quick video with some highlights...
2 links inserted below (sorry- this is published on YouTube and for some reason some mobile devices seem to be having issues with it.) Seems ok on PC's...Continue
Coming south on 9th Line from Stouffville there are some train tracks at an angle across the road. Today 3 or 4 riders in our group went down on them. Luckily it was mostly road rash and a broken top tube - it could have been much worse. So, be careful crossing these or any angled train tracks - don't be careless around them.
Do you have a CX or Mountain bike? Welcome to join in the fun.
Last year we had a blast riding the trails beside the Don bike path, so let's do it again!
6:30 pm tonight - Meet at the dog park at the west end of Taylor Creek bike path (same place as last year)
Will be riding north to Sunnybrook playing fields and back, depending on where people want to go and trail conditions.
This is a No drop ride, pace to suit.
Hope that we get some…Continue

We're planning a special event for this Friday, June 9. (The fact that it's a PA day for TDSB kids is an added bonus!) The plan is to meet at Joyride 150 in Markham (Link below) at 10am. Joyride is an indoor bike “playground” that will allow us all to build some new skills, and much more importantly, it should be insanely fun!
Any bikes are allowed, but Mountain or BMX are recommended. We are planning to get a group rate for 3 hours (between 10:30am and…Continue

The short version is that our goal going in was to get Simon as close to the top step as possible, with Luke and I aiming for reasonable placings as secondary goals. The end result was a 16th for Simon and DNF’s for both Luke and I. A poor tally, and one that came at a high cost.
The route they used for KW Classic should have been a great one, both for our strengths as well as general enjoyment of riding. It is a 12.5 km loop of rolling hills, with one moderately…Continue
