Business Trips can be Killers for Training

It is a tough world I know, the glamour of being out in Vancouver and then Whistler has a certain appeal and all the while it is business focused!! Of course, getting the training in can be a challenge - challenged by the time change and a new bed not to mention being out having a few pints with clients makes it doubly difficult but I am giving it an effort.

Tuesday was a rest day, but as I mentioned previously, wednesday is the beginning of the week. This morning i utilized the… Continue

The Weekend Brings the long hours of Training

For my training, the weekend represents the significant amount of training hours that i will post during the week. In peak mode, sometime in late may, early june, i will likely book 15-16 hours of training of which about 9 will come from the weekends.

This weekend was a good one with a good "long-run" on saturday and a long spin on sunday.

The saturday morning run was designed to be 1 hour and 15 minutes. Each Saturday from here, we will add about 15 minutes to these runs.… Continue

Reasons for getting out of bed to train and compression clothing

For most of us, there are many excuses for not getting up for a workout. Too tired, too much work to do, I will catch up tomorrow, i am feeling a little under the weather, its too cold outside, too hot outside, too rainy, too snowy - i know i have used them all. If there is an excuse in the book, I have used it. One of the cures for excuses is having a training partner, knowing somebody else is showing up for a ride, run or swim, generally forces our hand and creates additional incentive for us… Continue

The Road to Ironman Konada

Hello All, Dan asked me if I would post my experience as I build towards racing Ironman Canada in late August 2009. I thought what the heck, as I anticipate putting my experience up on the blog will keep me closer to my goal if I know even one BCC member might hold me to my program. I have named the journey "Konada", with the hope (and it is one big prayer given my first ironman was 14:26:30) that I might be able to qualify for kona at canada. To put this in perspective, being in the 45-49 age… Continue

In fact, we're keen to offer this to the entire BCC gang. We'd like to offer a week of free classes, the week of Feb 9 to 15. Weekday… Continue

Lation Fitness Studios Closes Feb 1st 2009. We are all Shocked!

I must say that I am really sad that the decision had to be made to close the Studio. I met many great people there, not to mention how Instructing Spinning has allowed me a different perspective on Cycling.

Lation Fitness Studios will be missed.

Spring is here - who is fooling who

Well the temperature is rising and the sense of spring is certainly in the air. Of course, there is likely 2 more months of this snow to contend with which means i continue to be relegated to the trainer.Once again I made my way to wattsup for the "3 hour tour".

I felt good heading into the ride. We were going to do the steelman 70.3 (in the uk i believe), which would be a relief given the mountainous Nevada ride of the previous week. There were 4 BCC members again there today,… Continue
