Wow what a great start to my outdoor riding season - 126kms are in the bag with an average speed of 29.3 km/h. My focus on this ride was just to get outside in the saddle. Well, the weather spoke for itself today. We had an early taste of spring, just in time for daylight saving time.
Three quarters of a dozen BCC riders (Alex, Charles, Jody, Joe, Ian, Peter, Stefan, Yossi, and I) turned out to the grinder to enjoy the awesome day. We headed north toward Vandorf just after 8 with the help of a tailwind. As a result, it was a fast ride up to and along Vandorf.

It certainly only feels like it has been a real short time between the euphoria of finding out that i was going to be "racing" the Amgen Tour of California and then facing the stark reality of what that was really going to mean in terms of time on the bike. As they released the course it became quite clear that i had a huge amount of work in front of me in order to ensure that i made it through this grueling experience without being totally annihilated.
