This week's MTB ride was well attended by Monday Night regulars - Mel, Trish, Alexx, Charlotte, Jeff, Robert, and Gord - and three new faces: Stephen "Chain Breaker" Norman, Jamie "Rabbit" Gilgen, and Evan "Don't Follow my Line" Glazer.
A bit of a slow start, as Trish had to demonstrate how hard she could ride her brand new bike, and promptly knocked her saddle apart, while Stephen decided to live up to his nickname on the…

So I missed the ride to Goodwood this morning because my friend convinced me earlier this year that it would be fun to enter the Toronto Women's Half Marathon. Being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects (and the fact that they had mentioned the presence of both Firefighters AND Chocolate stations) I figured what the hell, and signed up. Good thing that I did, the 2000 spaces filled up rather quickly, as you can imagine.
I have had a love-hate relationship with running over the…

Hi All ... I'm on a cycling holiday in Riccione, Italy.
On Sunday, our group of about 15 from Toronto joined 12,000 others to ride in the Gran Fondo Nove Colli.
The 135 km short course includes 4 major climbs. They are each about 7 kms long, with 5% average gradient and a maximum 18% gradient.
Our times ranged from 5 hours to 8 hours. I came in at 7 hours and 14 minutes, but the total ride time on my computer was just over 6 hours. I stopped at…

Folks, from speaking with a number of you I am aware that there are many BCCers that are riding in the RTCC on June 12th and 13th. Is there any interest out there in forming perhaps two BCC riding groups (one for the 200km ride and another for the 200 mile ride)? I'm not on any team now, and if there is enough interest I'm happy to organize a couple of groups so we'll all have some familiar faces along the way.
Let me know if you're interested and we'll take it from…

Hey all,
After a few rides, I felt that it would be beneficial if I explained it. Here's a little bit about choosing pace groups and knowing your ability/threshold and riding within it. If you are in a group and are riding at a speed that you are consistently trying hard to keep up to(without being able to take a turn at the front); try being a leader of the pace group that is slightly slower. …

Anyone who is thinking about this better stop thinking. Only 50 spots left and it is sold out or fully booked. Bunch of BCC members are doing this in a big group and a few of us will be doing this solo including myself. Find a wheel. It may be the most important ride you do this year!
