Brooke, Jason, David and I decided to start the season with a Sprint Triathlon to get ready for forthcoming races and get in some speedwork. I won't lie, I wanted to win this one but alas, I got beaten by a friend of mine who is in really good form. Still, second overall isn't bad, but I did discover that my swim still needs work. However, I did win my age group which brings me to the highlight of my day. I got to stand on the podium with Brooke for the first time…Continue

Welcome to Denise, Michelle, Don, and Leslie! Hope you all had a great ride. What a nice day. I'm not around for tomorrows ride, so be safe, and have…
The "breeze" certainly cleared out the lingering humidity - by the end of the ride I was actually finding it a bit chilly!
Welcome to Aaron and Adrian - out for their very first set of Brimley repeats. Another evening of headwinds on the climbs, but nothing like Wednesday night (fortunately!). We saw a lot of downed trees, and it was pretty obvious that there had been a number of limbs across Brimley. Fortunately, it had all been cleaned up by…Continue

Bunch of BCC Members are doing RTCC, Rideau Lakes Tour, and Racing Kelso and KW Classic. Want to take the time to wish y'all safe travels and awesome rides. Can't wait to hear the reports.
Last night was one of those nights... muggy and hot, whenever we stopped for lights we each cooked under our helmets. Traditional York Campus Boot.... Had to stop for water and ice at Weston Rd. - a much needed one to say the least!
Route was 70kms, I ended up with 82kms with an average of 29kph and a max of 68km/h.(Russell Hill…Continue
A limited number of photos from Monday night - I blame it on lingering exhaustion from Sunday's Ride for Heart speed-fest.
Anyway, it was a lovely sunny day to hit the Don River trails and despite Saturday's rain, the trails were generally dry. This week featured a nice mix of intermediate to advanced trail, and it almost seemed like we had…Continue
Get those iron legs ready folks, here it is. Mont Tremblant gets an Ironman race. Below is the official article. If you want to register, better do it as soon as registration opens at noon on June 15th. These things sell out super fast. Also, Lake Placid and Ironman Canada don't even offer online registration any more so this may be your only chance. It's likely that next year's registration for this race will be open to returning athletes and volunteers only.

Today was race prep day for me as IM France is getting closer and closer. Milton is always a great course to race on, very well organized and typically has decent weather (although last year it was very dicey).
Today I needed to get into the park before 8:30 even though I wasn't racing until almost 10am. As I get older I seem to need to get to events earlier as I appear to need more time to pull things together. So arrived at 7:20, had lots of time to get situated in the transition…Continue
The group I was with worked really well together, being courteous to cars, even letting them all through waiting having to wait for a train to pass on reesor. Average was over 30kmh for me. Thank you goes out to Richard for pulls up to Goodwood - into the wind. Thanks to Emile and Andrew and Mo for working with me at a pace just under warp speed to catch the group after the break. All in all, it seemed like everyone had a decent day on the bike. Fiona and…
Sorry, folks - no pictures. This ride was WAY too fast for that, even for me.
Peter Skalenda and I arrived at the CNE at 5:30, just seconds before they opened the gate for the 75 km riders. This let us get to the very front of the group.
For those of you who didn't know, every year the lead 75 km group gets a police escort - it's not needed on the initial loop, but the police will clear the way for the second loop so that the lead group doesn't get held up…Continue
Welcome to all the new and returning riders. Hope you all had a good ride. Comments…
Finally, a nice, sunny Thursday evening for some leg-bursting hill repeats.
A brisk headwind made the climbs on Brimley a little tougher than normal, and the final sprint on Kingston Road was tough, tough, tough - I figured I was gonna get dropped when the tri-guys (qb, Patryk, and James) made the most of their aero advantage (superior power had NOTHING to do with it, right guys?), but my sacrifices to the traffic light gods have been paying…Continue
a week and a bit until the ride!
Keep doing good deeds, praying, doing the chores at home, ..., and maybe we will get 2 days of great weather to go along with the great riding!
Here is my likely agenda, other BCCers and friends are welcome if it works out.
Friday night dinner in Ottawa for me and my car mates. Last year Bob C recommended a great pasta and beer place, I'll post the name. We will probably be there 7ish.
Saturday am, it would be…Continue
