A very appropriately named ride. Cycling is a religious tradition, isn't it?
BCCers Paul McKeever, Ken Beattie and I were joined by 29 other cyclists at the start of this year's Hairshirt on Sunday June 23rd. Not a recumbent, helmet mirror, pannier or wool shorts to be seen! Stereotypes be damned!!
As the ride began, two riders took off up the road, never to be seen again. They were Larry Optis (2007 RAAM solo finisher!) , and Jeremy Hatt who finished Hairshirt 2012 in 10 hours…Continue
Thanks for coming out everyone!
The online album is here.
And for those of you who just can't get enough data...
Until next week!

This year's addition of the 24hrs of Summer Solstice was a blast again. Compliments and thanks to Chico Racing and crew for putting on a fantastic event. Combine camping, not sleeping, hanging out with friends, and riding bikes in the woods and this is what we got on the weekend. Andrew W and I plus 3 others competed (more like completed!) at Albion Hills conservation area. The format is a team relay, about 400 teams, varying from the really nutty solo's, to 8 person corporate. We…Continue
Today was the Welland half ironman event, my warmup to Ironman Placid at the end of July. Charles Robba and I were there - I am not sure if there were any other BCC riders at the start line.
The readers digest version is that I was an age group midpacker out of the water, I had moved to first off the bike and then I just wilted in the heat. Wilted is actually an understatement, perhaps totally disintegrated might better describe the last 2:33 of my race.
Welland is an…Continue
Our lean group of myself, Rob, Steve, Meghan and Laura headed for a quickish jaunt to the Love of Joe in Stouffville. We worked very well together as a group and even met up with Jody who was out secretly training (oops, the cat's out of the bag) for a little while. Each of us communicated (it is Social Saturday after all) very well and we pushed each other just a little bit.
My final stats were 89.5 km at an average of 29.6 km/h. Great pace for our 2.5…Continue

Well, it took a few weeks but we finally had a dry Thursday night!
Guess people have been saving up there hill-climbing needs, as we had quite a big crowd this week.
Solid climbing efforts - excellent…Continue
It never fails - Always a good time! Welcome to some returning members and also to some new guys - we had a good group. Thanks Marco for taking the time to come out tonight. It wasn't till later in the ride with the tail wind that I had a chance to speak with him and found out that he rode this morning already! It is always good to know there is always someone faster than…Continue

5 BCCers, that I knew of, made the trek to Ottawa for this edition of the Rideau Lakes ride, Mohamed for his first time, Ken B, Steve J, Ian W, me. This year’s edition was sold out by the end of March at 2200 riders. The ride, for you who aren’t familiar, is a two day event, start in Ottawa on Saturday, ride to Queens in Kingston, eat tons in the dining hall for…Continue

Hey Everyone, hope you all had an awesome day of riding if you were out, even in the wet.
As Dan mentioned, BCC had yet another successful day out on the race course... in the wet again...
I don't have much time right now, but rest assured, I will write a long winded and boring post about my first trip to the podium for whoever has the patience to read it…

Looks like the Ride for Heart was another successful showing for BCC. For a few of us that missed RfH it was good day in the wind, and fortunately we missed the rain, or rather the rain missed us.
Ian and I had arranged to try to get in a longer ride. My day started with a text from Ian at 6:30 "are we on?" My reply was "let's get to grinder to see who is there", then then the heavens opened up. Phone call, change plans, we'll start at 7:30.
Lesson for me, look at BCC…Continue
A bunch of us met at Tim Hortons at Lakeshore and Leslie @ 5AM this morning. We rolled out, in the dark, and in the rain. Took Lakeshore across to get to the startline. NEW TERM: "Waterfall"! :-) Got there and pretty much were at the front. Peter S. was there, ready to race, and I am sure, he did it in under 2hrs. After we got rolling, we managed to form into our regular BCC Riding Paceline. I did a crash course on "How to ride in an Echelon". …Continue
Another well attended ride:Continue
Well, for a day that looked ominous from the start it couldn't have turned out better. Bill, Frank, Steve, Howard, Chris and myself started off as the rabbits and we seemed to play the role to a tee. After we got warmed up (Gerard and Vic park!!) we begun the process of taking it up a notch. We devoured a rider on the Kingston road incline to danforth and the pace quickened. With few red lights we decided to skip the guild and head straight to Lawrence. The pace was now running 17 min 10k…Continue
