Hope you all had an enjoyable ride. I heard that it really came down. I short turned with Emile and Tim at Warden and Vandorf. Sounds like everyone made it back safely:-), some a little more dry than others. Comments welcome. Next week we "Slay the…
A very, very humid evening - perfect for Brimley hill repeats, followed by quick dashes down (and up, of course) Meadowcliffe and Bethune.
Quote of the night: "Ouch. Now I know why you call these rides…Continue
Warm welcome to all the new riders! Hope you had a good time. Also, nice to see some people I haven't seen in a while. Good luck to those that are racing tomorrow and in the next coming weeks! Till next…Continue
Poor attendance for the Monday MTB ride, but it was stinking hot, hot, hot. Guess some people have more sense than others..
Over my 1h 10min ride, I drank all the water in my 2L Camelbak and a 24oz bottle. And even more when I staggered through the door at home.
The morning was beautiful! We met at Elgin and Leslie and had a group of 7 heading up for Lake Simcoe. It all started when I initiated a sprint(surprised?) as we were getting close to the lake & Dave B and Joe followed.. then it happened! Dave's rear derailleur made it's way into his wheel and exploded. We manage to fix it with a chain break tool and a power link - converted to single speed McGyver styles and he rode up and back in one gear. 20-1 as Dave would…
What a beautiful summer evening! Perfect time to go and hurt oneself on the hills... A few pictures of the group are below - some latecomers missed the photo ops, unfortunately. (Yep, 6:30pm rolling start means we leave at 6:30pm!)
Jason had a video camera strapped to his head. Heard rumour that he had it on for quite a bit, even sitting on my wheel while I made my sixth ascent? (Bet there's some ugliness on that video!) Hopefully he'll upload…Continue
Well, Brooke and I were back in Vermont the past week and did some great cycling and hiking. As it was supposed to rain on our first day there I decided to do a run instead of a ride. I ran up the road a bit from our campground which is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Vermont and then headed up a hiking trail to the top of a lesser mountain. I have to admit that I didn't run the whole…Continue

While she is too modest to brag, another of our BCC mates - Jessica Campbell - stepped up to the podium this past weekend. She finished 3rd in her age group with a 5:13:37 over the half ironman distance, just 2 mins 15 secs behind the winner and only 11 seconds out of second place!!! As impressive, she finished 30th overall against 503 female competitors! She had a blistering bike of 2:47:34, second fastest of her group of 44 finishers. another Canadian woman won the race, 27 year old…Continue
Forgot to take a picture at the start. As we got going, I tried to keep the pace sane at just under 40kph(think we had a tail wind). Going up Midland, we maintained the 40kph+ Riding speed into the wind. It was fast!. 3 Sprints and a 4 lap Crit later my stats were 55kms, Avg of 30kph(which is no representation of "ride speed" btw), and a Max of 67kpm on the Danforth sprint(had a little help). What a way to get back into riding after a week of eating lots of…
If you did the Becel Ride for Heart this year, you may have recently received an e-mail for this event called the Pedal 100 on August 14th. Here's the link http://secure.heartandstroke.ca/faf/help/helpEventInfo.asp?ievent=481960 and it looks like it could be a really nice ride in wine country. It is fully supported and there are 30, 60, 100 and 160km routes to choose from. Registration is…Continue

It was sure awesome weather. Thanks to Jon and Brian for leading a couple groups.
As planned our bunch stuck to a moderate pace to Stouffville. 45km up at 24 average, 40km back with 27 average, downhill with a tail wind home is sure sweet! Congrats to the those making it to Stouffville for the first time (Melani, Laura,...)
Hope everyone had as much…Continue
A short ride this week; seems a bunch of us had plans for later in the evening...
Only four pictures - camera battery died :( No pictures of Beer Night as a result.
Thanks for coming out,…Continue

Kerri, Steve, Alex, Jody, Mohamed and I made it out for another evening ride.
Up to the secret criterium loop for a few laps then back.
Welcome to Jody, and Mohamed out for their first Tuesday rides.
Awesome that the sun sets so late, we really didn't need the lights until coming back along Kingston Rd.
We rode easy to Kingston Rd, then the pace picked up on the uphill beside Variety Village and didn't slow. (except for the occasional red…Continue
The daytime heat noticeable abated during our regular Monday night MTB ride. Thanks to Jeff, Trish, and Roger for joining me.
Finally figured (sort of) what I've been doing wrong with the GoPro camera. Turns out, my SD card was not rated "high" enough - whatever that means - to take video. I stuck to picture mode this week, however, I've got a new SD card and will try to figure everything out to grab some video next week.
One hundred and thirty four Master B (40 - 49 year old) racers lined up on Sunday afternoon to vie for the 2011 National Master road race championship on an incredibly hot and sunny Burlington course.
BCC was represented by three riders - myself, Peter Skalenda, and Steve Fantaske. The race would prove to be incredibly gruelling, at a distance of 113 km with over 1100 m of climbing. Add in temperatures well over 30 degrees (with a humidex pushing close to…Continue
