The 2014 Ontario Provincial Road Race Championships took place on the Niagara Escarpment in Lincoln Ontario. Because the race was atop the escarpment, it ended up being a relatively flat course with only ~100m of elevation change over the 12km circuit and only a single real 10m kicker and false…Continue
It all started when I received a call from Roger Barrett. He called because he needed some help organizing a charity ride. After our phone conversation I met with Roger at his office and he explained to me why he wanted to do the Ride for Christian - That he just started cycling and loves it and that his son(who has…Continue
Scenic coffee break:
Did my first Simcoe ride today and it was worth the wait. We had a really good group of 11 for most of the way (D, Sage, Dru, Bob, Simon, Nils, Nick, Yossi, Joe & Paul) and made pretty good time. About 40km to go we split the group since 4 riders wanted a shorter ride. Very fun group to ride with.
The weather was threatening…Continue
For three years, Neworld bikes down in Burlington have agreed to give the proceeds of their annual century ride to Spin For Limbs, a charity that i am intimately involved with that raises funds, awareness and networking opportunities for families with children needing limb reconstruction surgeries at SickKids. Last year the 165km ride was conducted on one of the hottest days of the year at around 36 degrees if i remember rightly. This year was quite different, but at least we got to be…Continue
To those who didn't/couldn't make it out, you definitely missed a good one. The pace was great 31.6 on the way to Simcoe and somehow on the way back I got myself hooked up with the fast group. I figured…Continue
Check out our new support car!
A dozen cycling souls converged at Ted Reeve today for an awesome trip up to the Scarlem Crit. We did our laps, stretched our legs, and enjoyed the lovely weather on a windy but beautiful summer evening. Despite spending nearly 30 minutes at the crit, we even managed to beat the sun set because our sprints and late ride digs were…Continue
Had a great ride today and I hope everyone else did too. A small issue though that has happened before. A rider from mid pack pulls out and goes to the front to take over the lead. I don’t know what these guys are thinking (I’ve only seen guys do it). In all cases the existing rider doing the pulling didn’t need any help; they were doing just fine. And everyone in the group is entitled to a pull if they want it - it’s good…Continue
I finished in 9:13... 34 min past the gold-time - but I made ALL the rookie mistakes one could even start to imagine;
Other than my rear tire blowing up oh so close to the Grinder and Dan's unfortunate cramps; "too much walking in Italy" (Lana's fault ;), it was an awesome ride out to Kleinburg. No man left behind, we all pulled together and brought our elustrious leader home…Continue
