L3 Came 2nd and I took third with Mackie's lead out! Thanks Mackie! We then took a new road down to Wilson along the 400, SWEET! Nice Sprinting boys! We got stuck at the light at Yonge, but then had a chance to place bets on who would make it to the top and make it first on the turn… Continue

Because Brooke and I were cat-sitting we could not stay over in Bracebridge the night before the event so we woke up at 3:00 am to get ready and drive there in plenty of time for the half-iron race. Total sleep for me, about 2.5 hours, hardly ideal. There were not many racers but my age group (men 35-39) was stacked and I knew right away I’d be in for it. Strangely, one guy in my age group got stung in the face by a bee during his bike warm-up.
For the two km swim I lined up near the… Continue

This morning, our group had a close call with a pickup, and unless the guy was sleeping or drunk, it looked like the worst mean spririted piece of driving I've ever seen.
The peleton was coming down Kennedy I think, at about 30k, when a black pickup made a left turn from a side road to our right, and came right at us. He was squarely straddling the yellow line towards us when he straightened out at the last second and went in his own lane. I hadn't played chicken with anything since I was… Continue

So, Met up with the main group at Tims to see who would actually show. I was going to cancel the ride but as I was getting there QB texted me and informed me that there were 12 Riders of the Storm. So since I was there with my car and wanted to start up north, I thought it would be nice to give the riders a little action; and Motor paced them up Don Mills. Hope you all enjoyed that!
We met a small group of riders at Elgin Mills and Woodbine. I was late cause… Continue

My 9 year old daughter Caroline had the unbelievable good fortune of being in Paris for the end of the Tour de France. Needless to say I am still jealous. Thankfully, she brought me back a yellow jersey, so we are good.
Here is in her own words how she lived this moment:
Dad always talks about bikes. So in France, he talks about bikes and about the Tour de France. He even bought a bike in France. But he's too cheap to buy me one. I had to ride my great grandfather's girlbike… Continue

Just back from France.
Had a fabulous time. Four weeks of pure relaxation, great sightseeing, family reunions, great food, and yes, great wine. Gisèle and I also got to ride quite a bit. We bought bikes there. I lucked out. Found an aluminum BH done up in 105 on the Internet near La Rochelle. Older guy was selling because an operation to his knee prevented him from riding anymore. Perfect fit. Perfect price. 5 years old, but just like new. Gisèle got a new bike, not as… Continue

So it was Thi, Tim and I that were showed up to the ride. Got to Royal York and it started to pour! I snapped my fingers and we were at Main St. Did the Southwood hill and decided that because we worked so damned hard, we deserved a beer! 3 Pitchers and a Party Wings later..... I have a Challenge: TO BEAT THI up the RIVER street exit off the Bayview Extention! And I WILL do it! Gotta crush that ego before he can't fit through the door!:)… Continue

Where to begin? I remember the first time I met Jamie, and rode with her. It was on a Saturday for the zoo loop and we ended up together in the paceline on the way out. We were chatting and she told me that I should try racing, I'd like it and it was a lot of fun. Didn't take much to pique my interest....I sat on the idea for awhile, got my new bike and then started to think about it some more. I mean, if it was FUN...what's the worst that could happen, right? So I went to the OCA site and… Continue

As my wife Brooke and I sat around at 11 pm on Sunday night I was trying to decide whether to do the Monday morning danish loop or the Tuesday night hammer fest. Then again, there was Le Tour de Terra Cotta the next day. Twelve hours later I was on the mass start with over a hundred other cyclists getting ready for the 108 km road race, and feeling like I was way over my head. The reasons not to sign up for this race were many:
I had never ridden in a peleton and because of the mass… Continue

Small group(10) but fun never the less. Great people, great times! So the way it works is if you don`t show for a ride and there are more than 5 people out, you have to put $5 into the Beer Fund for the end of season party! And if you show up to the ride in street clothes, you have to pay $10 into the end of Season Party Beer Fund!(MIKE… Continue
