Great ride everyone. Safe, challenging(I hope) and fun at the same time. I had an average of 30kph+ for the ride.
We made our way to Louisville (for those that…Continue
Wow! TWO Mondays in a row without rain! Jeff and I had a lot of fun JRA (just riding along), although our competive natures did rear up from time to time - I would sprint up the hills and Jeff would return the favour by leaving me in the dust on the descents and through the tight, twisty sections. (Watch the video and you'll see a couple of instances where Jeff just zooms away...)
Wow, where to start? I apologize in advance for the length of this blog but there so much to tell. It's almost as long as the Ironman so you really have to commit to reading this one. I spent my whole season doing long, slow rides and runs in preparation for this race which compromises top end speed a little bit but prepares you for the long grind of a ten hour race. Because of this I felt confident in my ability get to the end with some pep still in my legs. My short course…Continue

After thinking about it for a couple of years, I finally tried track cycling last winter at the Forest City Velodrome in London. I was instantly hooked on the amazing feeling of a completely smooth surface, no wind and banked corners. When I offered to organize a BCC road trip last March for more people in the club to try it, a dozen signed up in no time. So, I figured I'd organize another trip for this year in November.
The introductory "Track 1" sessions are on Saturdays…Continue
Not to steal any glory from our 3 BRAND NEW IRONMEN, but Pat, Jodie and Dave Shedd have all finished their races, and did a fantastic job - truly incredible! Can't wait to read their accounts in the coming days! It was so much fun following their progress on line.
Here are their result times:
Patryk Bigalski - 10:39:11
Jodie Ferneyhough - 11:24:28
David Shedd 13:37:23
Congratulations, guys! A truly awesome…Continue
I decided to participate in this year's La Bicicletta GranFondo Ride. I have never done one of these rides before so I wasn't sure what to expect other than they said: "Fully Supported". I'm in! Thinking I was going to take a break from the organizing and marshaling that I normally try to do on BCC Rides. There were a lot of people I…
Welcome to all the new riders.... See y'all next…

For those interested in participating vicariously, check into www.ironmanlive.com and dial up the results of Ironman Lousiville. Patryk Biegalski, Jodie Ferneyhough, and Dave Shedd all hit the start line this morning at 7 am. Congrats to all 3 for making it to the line, as training for ironman is probably as hard or harder than competing in ironman when all of the fans are out cheering you to the finish line. Having said that, it looks like louisville…Continue
Well, we managed to get in a strong ride although we didnt quite hit the century mark as we short-turned off a rather busy goodwood road. Four souls made it for this 154km effort. Paul M, Alex S and QB hit Grinder at 6:30am while Brian B met us at the highland overpass. The four of us made a beeline north of the city to Stouffville and thank goodness not a lot of cars were on the road as dense fog made visibility a challenge. There was enough water in the air to have my sunglasses dripping…Continue
Some excellent climbing was being showcased tonight. Great to see how much everyone has improved since the beginning of the season!
The wind out of the northeast made the ride out a little harder, but most of Brimley was sheltered. (Whew! The climb is hard enough without adding a headwind!) Great for the post-Meadowcliffe return ride and sprint, however!
Thought I might take the hill climb dash up Meadowcliffe this week, but…Continue
Usual suspects, couple new riders, everyone at the same level, fast and furious right to the bitter end! (Pretty much sums it up, I think). Average speed with stops and intervals was 31kph, for the 65km distance. My max was 68kph over the St. Phillips sprint. Hope you all royally enjoyed yourselves....Comments…
Jeff, Ryan and I took advantage of a rare Monday night without precipitation to hit the trails...
The evening got off to a bit of a slower start as Ryan was experiencing some mechanical difficulties, but Mr. Fixit Jeff quickly got him up and running. Not surprisingly, given that both Jeff and Ryan are regular Tuesday night riders, the rest of the night was fast, fast, fast!
The Alpen Challenge in Switzerland. 123km over 2 mountain passes. It was absolutely stunning. We covered over 380km in the mountains before the race. We would recommend the area for excellent biking and great food stops to…Continue
Seemed to be the night for many former regulars to reaquaint themselves with the Brimley hill.
Thanks to Jeff and Eric for once again joining the fun, and good to see Brooke, Ian, Jason, Jon, and Patryk out again! After beating ourselves up on Brimley, the group did a short Tour de Scarborough over to the Meadowcliffe hill, just 'cause we kinda like the way it hurts...
It's clearly getting later in the season - there was some mighty…Continue

A group of us met at MC Park for the 6:30am Start. We ended up getting back at 10:30am, missed the rain and added another ride to the record books.
How was your…Continue
Nice to see some new faces... I had the count over 50 riders... Hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
On a side note, Here's a friendly remember: Safety is First - #1
1. Check for cars before passing, try to get your position before a downhill or on an uphill. Passing less experienced riders can be unnerving for them.
2. Back of the Pack…Continue
