Oh, Rob Ford...

Well, for those of you who haven't heard it, here's how Rob Ford feels about bicycles:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nySs1cEq5rs

And for those of you who are runners, his brilliant idea on today's news was that due to the traffic inconvenience that these darn marathons cause, he will take all marathons off city streets and move them into the city parks so that they don't disrupt traffic.

Can you imagine how… Continue

Exploring by cyclocross...

So, this past Sunday seemed to be a busy one for all! The marathon, several Stouffville rides and all. My buddy Jorge and I decided to go for a long cyclocross ride and do some exploring at the same time. We rode the abandonned rail line that stretches from Uxbridge east towards Lindsay (and then on to Peterborough)... I thought I'd share a few pics...…

One Last Montreal Post

I couldn't help adding to the fray with respect to Montreal. I think the club should be contemplating a road trip for the pro-tour in quebec city and montreal in 2011. With some possible contacts that some of us may have, who knows we might be able to ride with Liquigas as I did, or any of the other pro teams that attend the event. As Jason found out, the riders are all over the city and they are very approachable.

The photos are a bit of bike…

James Young The A-Team of the Adirondacks

This is not a dissertation on my recent participation in this year’s Adirondack 540. I need to let everyone in the club know about three incredible BCCers. They are well known and long standing club members. I am speaking of: Jonathan Tice, Kerri and Speedy Steve.…

Monday MTB Riding

It gets really dark, really fast these days, but we had another fabulous play date on the dirt! Thanks to Reg, Lisa, Thi, Darryl, and DRU for joining me!

I'm still shooting video with a hand-held digital camera, so the camera work is still quite jerky. If you're prone to motion sickness, you might want to take some Gravol before watching!…

Marvelous, Magnificent, Centurion 100

(I need some more adjectives) this was one of the highlights of the year.

Alex S, Ian, Dave Shedd, Dave’s friend Peter, and I arrived at Blue Mountain Village for registration on Saturday in the pouring rain. For me, a little dread was setting in, the forecast for Sunday was…

In Provence for 12 days.

Now that the mornings are so chilly, I find myself daydreaming of the fun I had cycling over the summer. I thought I'd share a few pics I took in France. I met up with my brother in August for 12 days of cycling, beer and wine. Good times, good times! Hope you like 'em! Dru.…

First Ever Stouffville Saturday

The suggestion was made to head to Stouffville. Today's ride was a merge of the traditional "Zoo Loop" Mixed with a trip to Stouffville. I hope you all had a good ride. Sorry we left you in the bathroom Paul! I didn't find out till we got back to Grinder. We all feel bad about… Continue

Encouragement for a Fellow BCC Rider: James Young

The day started almost uneventfully as close to 15 riders assembled

outside the Alpine Inn in Wilmington, NY for the start of the Adirondack 540

The light was dim, being before 7AM, but the energy and confidence was

high. The air was cool from a night's worth of rain and 6C

temperatures. Everyone seemed to be ready, especially James.

I won't recount the entire day as it's been a long one… Continue

Queen's Park Grand Prix Sunday 19th - You Gotta Be There

Hello everyone, this weeked some top flight racing will be happening in the downtown core of Toronto. Having just spent the weekend in Montreal watching the pros tackle a tough 12km course, with lots of people out cheering on the competitors, I am hopeful that Toronto demonstrates the same spirit.

The races are limited to a Masters 1 & 2 race at 8:30am, an Elite Women's race at 10am and the pro race at noon. We have great representation with Marc and Demetre going to the…

More Marvellous Midnight MTB Mayhem (and alliteration)

A relatively large crowd tonight: Thanks to Brownen, Reg, Lisa, Jeff, Demetre, Gord, Thi, Dru, and Darryl for joining me on tonight's ride.

We had lots of fun with a quick Taylor Creek loop, then tackling the flats on the east side of the train tracks, climbing up to Loblaws and returning to the east side of the tracks via the southern portion of Crothers Wood. Then with the setting sun forcing some riders back home, Reg, Lisa, Gord, Demetre and I did some…

Ride for Karen - Post Mortem

While the weatherman was calling for rain yesterday we only got about 5 minutes of rain over the 6 hour 160km Ride for Karen circuit yesterday. It was a great experience for a great cause but talk about challenging. Not having done the ride before I really didn't know what to expect. Unlike the relatively flat Ride to Conquer Cancer, this baby has hills, and lots of them. Not being a real fan of hills (is anybody?) I struggled from time to time, but you when you think about the cause your…

Patryk Biegalski Brooke Podiums at Wasaga Triathlon

First, congrats to Chelsea, Charles and Charles' wife on their great races today. Way to represent the BCC. Brooke entered the Give-it-a-Tri as training for next week's sprint tri and did AWESOME! She came out of the water smiling in 100th place out of 204 finishers and made a beeline for her new Cervelo. What happened then, out on the bike course, can only be described as a complete massacre. Brooke was by far the fastest woman in the race putting a minute…

Dark Thursday Night Hils

Who knew that 10 people would come out tonight! Paul and I got caught in a mini-downpour as we started riding over, went back home for 5 minutes, then headed over to Birchmount, thinking we'd be the only ones there... what was I thinking! Of course The Usuals were all there! It was gloomy and threatening and kinda windy, but the rain held off and we had a good ride. Did a speedy tour of Scarborough, and it was pitch black by the time we were heading home at only 8pm...… Continue
