CX Monday Madness #5 - Lots of action!

Connor shows Jason and Warren how to do a tight turn.(Above)

The fifth cross practice took place tonight and with addition of some slightly damp grass, there were thrills, spills and grass stains.

Myself, Connor, Jeff and Jason were in attendance along with Paul M & Warren, both of whom I met for the first time.

Looks like a…

Granfondo Niagara 2013

It was dark and it was cold last Saturday by the edge of the Falls, but about 1000 riders were ready to roll out on the first ever Granfondo Niagara. The 6:45 AM start was a tad early as it was still dark out, but I believe the organizers needed to give the streets back by a certain time thus necessitating the early start. It didn't take long for the sun to come out as we rode north along the Niagara River towards Niagara On The Lake. The sunrise over the river was quite…

CX Monday Madness number 3 15Sept2013 - 'twas fun

Nice to see more out for our 'ride' in the park.

That's Paul, Jon, budding all-star Owen, Bruce and Colin ready for action.

(Can you guess who Owen belongs too?)

MIA's were stuck in traffic, complaining of 'sore' legs from Centurion, away racing, had to work ... so the rest us did our best to fill in a do a bunch of laps.

Have to say, this one…

BCC Represents at Blue Mountains Centurion 2013

The BCC was well-represented at the Blue Mountains Centurion this year! A fantastic time was had by all, and a lot of firsts and personal bests were won. From the outstanding finish of Paul M., to the first-time rides by Trish N. and Ivana, I think that people reached their goals and even surprised themselves!

Please post your stories, and share any photos that you may have taken. Results can be found here:…

Tour de Black Creek Bike Race - We need 26 volunteers!!!!!!!

Next week, Saturday September 21, The Children's Breakfast Club is hosting it's 7th Annual Tour de Black Creek Bike Race and they would very much appreciate some help from BCC.  The breakfast club, along with Toronto Police and the Canadian Tire JumpStart program, has been working with children and youth in the Jane and Finch community to encourage a love of cycling and an appreciation for physical fitness.  A full summer of learning and training culminates this Saturday with the Tour de…

CX Practice - Part II

Tonight some of us met up for cross practice without our fearless leader Jamie.  The weather was perfect, the hill was still steep and some nearby logs substituted for the cross barriers we normally practice with.

Myself, Connor (the little guy), Jeff, Don, Charles and Andre did quite a few laps around the course, except Don who had some technical difficulties.  I was having a bit of trouble getting up the hill for most of my laps and it wasn't until almost the end when I realized I…

No rain, no gain!

Six of us did the 8:00 am zoo loop on Saturday in spite of rain in the forecast and in spite of the actual rain coming down at the start. It didn't rain very hard for the first part of the ride, but by the time we got to the zoo - we were all pretty wet and the rain picked up the pace far more than we did. Too bad there are no short cuts from the zoo.

By the end it was very wet and pretty cold. Not the most pleasant ride, but considering I haven't done a group ride for six months…
