Hi everyone. I hope everyone is having a good season so far.
For anyone who has kids who ride, I want to point out the Ontario Youth Cup races that are available. Out of the six races, four are pretty close to Toronto and look like great events.
The races are available for any kids turning 9 this year or older. They typically have 2-year age categories.
Events are run on a closed course, so no worries about cars.
The races consist of a time trial, a…

This morning I woke up a bit tired but I decided to go for my Beechwood Dr hill repeats. It's been a while since I haven't done it, so I wasn't sure how it was going to go, anyway... I go to the Don Valley trail heading to Beachwood and I started doing my hill repeats…Continue
I was going to put this in the forum, but thought it might see more traffic here…
I recently read this article by the Globe and Mail's Peter Cheney discussing the confusion over hand signals by those of us on two wheels. I am a strong proponent of his proposal. Discuss?
Wow. What a lovely ride today. Sure, it was a bit brisk first thing in the morning, and I am getting over a bad sinus cold, but lots of sunshine along with great company got me through to the coffee prize at the end. Thanks to Simon, Jon, John, Phallon, Brad, Scott, Marc, Jeff, Brad (there were 13 of us, but names are escaping me).
Our group rode very well together and…Continue
The thing that I may remember most about today was that when the second and third place riders in the E4 category were called to the podium after the race, there was a faint ripple of polite applause from the assembled crowd, but upon the announcement of our very own John Lobraico to the top step as our worthy winner there was whooping and hollering at the tops of many…Continue
So... now that I can use my crutch to walk around, its about time to tell my story. Last week, on April 5th, a group of us that included Harris, Ian M, Mike N, Charles and Bruce D, went for a Sunday morning ride. The plan was to take a the relatively easy trail at the Humber river trail and ride north to Kleinburg and back through various paths to the Don and Toronto. About 10 kms onto the Humber river trail I hit a patch of ice and sled on my left side. I felt a terrible pain in…Continue
The 2015 BCC Race season has commenced and everyone was excited/anxious to get off on the right foot with the Good Friday Road Race (GFRR) this past weekend. While I will get the ball rolling with an initial post, I ask my teammates to respond and provide further details based on their race experiences. In the past, BCC has usually put forth both a men’s Elite-4…Continue
While I am not a regular contributor to the blog, Trish (aka blogger extraordinaire) made a special request. I can't say no to Trish, so here we go. Many of you may have heard rumblings that it was on the rise, but as of yesterday, the BCC Women’s Race Team is officially up and rolling. Originally, we had a team of four, Ivana, Andrea, Danielle, and I, entered in our…Continue
The Good Friday Road Race is the "traditional" start to the Ontario road racing season. 2015 is shaping up to be a very successful year. I've only got a few minutes to finish this post so I can't identify everyone who pinned on a number, but…Continue
My stepson Isaac is teaching English in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and is taking part in an exciting adventure that started this past Friday.
H2H - Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City - is a charity bicycle ride that first took place in 2009. It is organized by volunteers and the funds raised go towards Vietnamese organizations that work with poor and disadvantaged children.
He'll be part of a team of 20 expat riders who are going to be flying up to Hanoi (Vietnam's capital) and…Continue

So we've always talked about doing an off season event to keep the BCC Social vibe going through the off season. Well folks, our first BCC club Kart night happened last night! Ivana giving the thumbs up!(above)
There were 12 Participants in all. Thanks to all you came out to practice race tactics on the track. I know its not the same as being on a…Continue

I've been a fan of track cycling for years. There's something fluid and elegant about a paceline turning laps doing perfect lead changes. I decided last week that I was done with the rental track bikes in London and Milton and decided to get my own. I think we're going to have lots of fun together. If you haven't tried the track in Milton, what you are waiting for? If you're already certified, I'll see you on the boards.…Continue
Hello everyone - welcome to 2015!
The 2015 Race Team group was setup to provide a rallying point for BCC club members who race, or who are interested in racing, with a primary objective to be a means of networking and mutual support. The group is open to all club members interested in racing, regardless of whether you are new to racing or experienced, whether you race under BCC colours, as part of our affiliated TO Wheels Epic Sports Performance BCC race team, or for…Continue

This video is quite interesting, as are all of the GNC cycling videos on YouTube.
See how Daniel Lloyd manages on a classic steel bike from the 80's.

Just an FYI, the route for 2015 Pan Am Games Road race just released today. For those who are interested in watching or seeing the Road Race game. Some of you BCCer had done the Ellis Road Park hill and say goodbye to KOM on Strava. No wonder why they've paved the road this fall.
