Riding doesn't need to end just because a little snow falls!

Having so much fun that I just had to share.

A few keeners, including me, couldn't bear to put the bikes away yet so we've been riding…

What is your excuse?

Yes, I know it's cold outside, but what about the trainer or rollers? If he could do it with only one arm and one leg, what's your excuse?

Toronto Cross - Although I didn't get to ride it, I had a good time (literally!)

Last Sunday was a busy one, between the EOS ride and the Toronto Cross.  I had planned to ride the Toronto Cross, which would have been my first cross ride, but unfortunately I broke my CX bike frame on the Thursday night practice:

The replacement has been ordered and so I am now waiting to be reunited with my CX steed and actually complete a CX race this…

SPIN FOR LIMBS 3rd Annual Bike Ride and Festival

Rule #9 was invoked early on Sunday at the Spin For Limbs 3rd Annual Ride and Festival. It absolutely chucked it down for the 8am start of the 100km ride. BCC should now be known as Badass Cycling Club, as despite the atrocious weather, Jim, Keld, Andre and Lucas, peeled their-good-selves out of bed to join me on a morning where it would have been easy to look out the window, roll over, and go back to sleep.  Bernadette, Suzanne, Nils and his 10 year old son Laurits also attended to ride the…

Go Tell It on Blue Mountain!

Last season, my first with BCC, I recall that a lot of members participated in the Centurion Blue Mountain, in both the C50 and C100 events. That is 50 and 100 miles for those new to the club. The week earlier I had ridden the Epic Tour Halton 140 km. and that was enough for this newbie, coupled with the fact that Centurion would probably entail staying the Saturday…

Halton Epic Tour Ride Report

Last Sunday September 7 was a perfect early sunny fall day for the Halton Epic Tour.

BCC was well represented by Bob Knight, Chris Andrews, Neil Bacon, Jim Vandekas,  Joseph, Wayne, Dave Adams and me. (I may have missed one or two others.) We all did the Gran Fondo route of 140 km.  There are other distances available from 50 km to the 170 km Ultra Fondo.

Great event and well-organized, with police managing traffic on every busy corner. Well-stocked rest stops, clear directions…

Ride Report - Northumberland Nasty - 7 Sep 2014

Sunday was a beautiful day for the inaugural Northumberland Nasty, a 65km cyclocross event held by the Cobourg Cycling Club.  The Cobourg CC was very welcoming and laid out a very well-marked course with two checkpoints stocked with tubes, water and gels.

Fun CycloCross Session

Last Thursday I went to the BCC cross session led by Jrdo/Jman...the cyclist originally known as Jason (I think). Unfortunately due to injury, I wasn't able to participate but I managed to get a few pics and videos. It was a great night at Riverdale Park - lovely weather, friendly locals and a good turnout of about a dozen riders.

I would encourage anyone who…

2014 Lake of Bays Road Race - O-Cup #8

The Lake of Bays Road Race (LOBRR) takes place in the Muskoka region just outside of Huntsville. The course leaves the Deerhurst resort via an 8.7km stretch along country roads, does a 76km clockwise loop around Lake of Bays, and then returns to the resort from whence it came. Being on the Canadian Shield, the race is jam-packed with rolling…

Tour de Terra Cotta: Fantastic Event!

I am not the man to do lengthy posts and rarely comment on the site, but I thought I'd share my first  experience ever in a bike race. I quite enjoy reading race or ride reports, such as Christian Dognon conquering the Pyrénnées or Paul, Mouck or Jason sharing their race experiences. I'm always impressed at the level of detail of their recollection and now understand why.

What a wonderful event organized by a bunch of nice and welcoming people from the town of Terra Cotta in Caledon.…

Climbing a mountain in France

Hi everybody.

Just back from France, and a beautiful trip.

Some of you know I was going to attempt to climb the Tourmalet---one of the toughest climbs of the Tour de France.  Something really crazy as those of you who ride with me know hills are not my friends.

This is something my cousin François, an avid cyclist, had…

Friendly Reminder... Need I say more?

Hey all,
Not to be a downer to a great season, but it seems like some of us are forgetting the fundamentals of safety.  I understand when the heat is on and people are jamming, however, we should be always mindful as we are ambassadors of cycling, not just the…
