Some ominious looking clouds, but no rain! Nice to see everyone out "enjoying" themselves on the hills.
Never did make Beer Night, so no pictures of the festivities. Maybe next…Continue
Wow! TWO Mondays in a row without rain! Jeff and I had a lot of fun JRA (just riding along), although our competive natures did rear up from time to time - I would sprint up the hills and Jeff would return the favour by leaving me in the dust on the descents and through the tight, twisty sections. (Watch the video and you'll see a couple of instances where Jeff just zooms away...)
Some excellent climbing was being showcased tonight. Great to see how much everyone has improved since the beginning of the season!
The wind out of the northeast made the ride out a little harder, but most of Brimley was sheltered. (Whew! The climb is hard enough without adding a headwind!) Great for the post-Meadowcliffe return ride and sprint, however!
Thought I might take the hill climb dash up Meadowcliffe this week, but…Continue
Jeff, Ryan and I took advantage of a rare Monday night without precipitation to hit the trails...
The evening got off to a bit of a slower start as Ryan was experiencing some mechanical difficulties, but Mr. Fixit Jeff quickly got him up and running. Not surprisingly, given that both Jeff and Ryan are regular Tuesday night riders, the rest of the night was fast, fast, fast!
Seemed to be the night for many former regulars to reaquaint themselves with the Brimley hill.
Thanks to Jeff and Eric for once again joining the fun, and good to see Brooke, Ian, Jason, Jon, and Patryk out again! After beating ourselves up on Brimley, the group did a short Tour de Scarborough over to the Meadowcliffe hill, just 'cause we kinda like the way it hurts...
It's clearly getting later in the season - there was some mighty…Continue

A second place finish in the M2 race at today's Niagara Classic for Steve "Mr. Fantastic" Fantaske. Congratulations to Steve and all the other BCC racers today!

I love these Hillicious rides so much I returned home from vacation early just to participate!
Well, not really - we came back early to take the kids to Wonderland. However, there's only so much spinning, twirling, and loop de loops an eight and ten year old (and their parents) can take, so we were back in time for me to race to Birchmount and Kingston Road for 6:30pm.
Thanks to Dan for organizing and leading the Thursday rides in…Continue
A very, very humid evening - perfect for Brimley hill repeats, followed by quick dashes down (and up, of course) Meadowcliffe and Bethune.
Quote of the night: "Ouch. Now I know why you call these rides…Continue
Poor attendance for the Monday MTB ride, but it was stinking hot, hot, hot. Guess some people have more sense than others..
Over my 1h 10min ride, I drank all the water in my 2L Camelbak and a 24oz bottle. And even more when I staggered through the door at home.
What a beautiful summer evening! Perfect time to go and hurt oneself on the hills... A few pictures of the group are below - some latecomers missed the photo ops, unfortunately. (Yep, 6:30pm rolling start means we leave at 6:30pm!)
Jason had a video camera strapped to his head. Heard rumour that he had it on for quite a bit, even sitting on my wheel while I made my sixth ascent? (Bet there's some ugliness on that video!) Hopefully he'll upload…Continue
A short ride this week; seems a bunch of us had plans for later in the evening...
Only four pictures - camera battery died :( No pictures of Beer Night as a result.
Thanks for coming out,…Continue

The daytime heat noticeable abated during our regular Monday night MTB ride. Thanks to Jeff, Trish, and Roger for joining me.
Finally figured (sort of) what I've been doing wrong with the GoPro camera. Turns out, my SD card was not rated "high" enough - whatever that means - to take video. I stuck to picture mode this week, however, I've got a new SD card and will try to figure everything out to grab some video next week.
One hundred and thirty four Master B (40 - 49 year old) racers lined up on Sunday afternoon to vie for the 2011 National Master road race championship on an incredibly hot and sunny Burlington course.
BCC was represented by three riders - myself, Peter Skalenda, and Steve Fantaske. The race would prove to be incredibly gruelling, at a distance of 113 km with over 1100 m of climbing. Add in temperatures well over 30 degrees (with a humidex pushing close to…Continue
A beautiful summer evening to go out and hurt oneself on the hills... Thanks, everyone, for coming out. Dan had has camera as well, and may post some more pictures. And welcome to John on his first BCC ride.

Steve Fantaske, Peter Skalenda and I will be lining up on Sunday (July 3) for the National Masters Road Race championship in Burlington.
The Masters Men race starts at 1:00pm, and it is going to be tough, tough, tough: over ten laps, we'll travel 113km and climb over 1,100m !
We'd love to see a good BCC crowd come out and…Continue
Much of ths week's ride was done in the company of, well, no one.
We started off with a pretty low turnout - myself, Alex, and Jeff. Jeff was pretty tired from competing in this weekend's 24 hour race and left for home soon after arriving. As usual, Alex was game for just about anything, and the two of us set out at a pretty decent pace.
Alex comes straight from work, however, and he's a cycling commuter. As one can see from the…Continue

Thanks to Mohamed, Steve, and Dave for risking the rain! Paul - you chickened out needlessly! But thanks for sending me a message so I knew you weren't coming. Sorry about the name-calling... :)
Despite a pretty iffy weather forecast, we had a beautiful evening for the weekly Brimley torture session. Check out the blue sky in the…Continue
The "breeze" certainly cleared out the lingering humidity - by the end of the ride I was actually finding it a bit chilly!
Welcome to Aaron and Adrian - out for their very first set of Brimley repeats. Another evening of headwinds on the climbs, but nothing like Wednesday night (fortunately!). We saw a lot of downed trees, and it was pretty obvious that there had been a number of limbs across Brimley. Fortunately, it had all been cleaned up by…Continue

A limited number of photos from Monday night - I blame it on lingering exhaustion from Sunday's Ride for Heart speed-fest.
Anyway, it was a lovely sunny day to hit the Don River trails and despite Saturday's rain, the trails were generally dry. This week featured a nice mix of intermediate to advanced trail, and it almost seemed like we had…Continue
Sorry, folks - no pictures. This ride was WAY too fast for that, even for me.
Peter Skalenda and I arrived at the CNE at 5:30, just seconds before they opened the gate for the 75 km riders. This let us get to the very front of the group.
For those of you who didn't know, every year the lead 75 km group gets a police escort - it's not needed on the initial loop, but the police will clear the way for the second loop so that the lead group doesn't get held up…Continue
