Finally, a nice, sunny Thursday evening for some leg-bursting hill repeats.
A brisk headwind made the climbs on Brimley a little tougher than normal, and the final sprint on Kingston Road was tough, tough, tough - I figured I was gonna get dropped when the tri-guys (qb, Patryk, and James) made the most of their aero advantage (superior power had NOTHING to do with it, right guys?), but my sacrifices to the traffic light gods have been paying…Continue
A little rain to start the evening, but a pleasant little ride followed by some nasty hills and a few interval sprints.
Here are the pictures:
Thanks to Evan, Mohammed, and Jim for braving the elements with me. Laurie brought the old green machine out for old times sake, but he tapped out with Dan before I got around to taking…Continue

Well, the rain stayed away long enough for a small group of dedicated Thursday riders to gather at Birchmount and Kingston Road. Welcome to Rick, who celebrated joining BCC with Brimley hill repeats!
Not much in the way of photos this week - too busy riding! Seems I also failed to get a photo of the idiot who rode up and down Brimley on his fixie. (Rumour has it that this same guy rides the Don Trails on Monday nights with the same bike.) Dan…Continue
A beautiful night for a little play time in the dirt! Welcome to Martin, and thanks to Jeff, Ryan and Alex for joining me.
Sorry for the delay in posting, but my camera card developed a fatal error - I was only able to salvage a small number of photos from yesterday's ride, and none of the video (which is too bad, as I had some impressive video from the descent down Brimely, as well as some video of the subsequent climb back up, along with plenty of cursing of the difficulty of riding one-handed while holding a camera).
At any rate, this week's blog gets to be PG. …Continue

It gets really dark, really fast these days, but we had another fabulous play date on the dirt! Thanks to Reg, Lisa, Thi, Darryl, and DRU for joining me!
I'm still shooting video with a hand-held digital camera, so the camera work is still quite jerky. If you're prone to motion sickness, you might want to take some Gravol before watching!…Continue
A relatively large crowd tonight: Thanks to Brownen, Reg, Lisa, Jeff, Demetre, Gord, Thi, Dru, and Darryl for joining me on tonight's ride.
We had lots of fun with a quick Taylor Creek loop, then tackling the flats on the east side of the train tracks, climbing up to Loblaws and returning to the east side of the tracks via the southern portion of Crothers Wood. Then with the setting sun forcing some riders back home, Reg, Lisa, Gord, Demetre and I did some…Continue
Well, not actually "midnight", but it did get really, really dark!
Tim and I stayed out way past the street lights coming on (yup, I got in trouble for that, too!). We had a ton of fun, but for some reason the video of our night ride just makes it seem like we got stuck in a really bad Blair Witch Project remake...…Continue
Thanks to Alex, Alexx, and Thi for joining me on another muggy Monday evening.…Continue
Pictures (and videos) are worth a thousand words, especially at this time of night.
Thanks to Jeff, Mel, Alexx, Alex, Reg, Jamie, and Bronwen for joining me on tonight's ride!…
Jeff, Evan, Thi, and Jamie, along with newcomers Mary and Reg, joined me for a hot and humid Monday night MTB ride.
Unfortunately, we didn't run across any deer this week, but we did spot a few cats. Better luck next…Continue
I think we had a record attendance night tonight - enough people to split into two groups!
Jeff seemed a wee bit tired from the his wet and windy weekend ride, and quickly voluntered to lead the skills session for Mel, Trish, Alexx and Bronwen.
That left me with the fast group of Tim, Jamie, Robert and Charlotte. Despite a small series of minor mechanicals, and one big one involving me…Continue
This week's MTB ride was well attended by Monday Night regulars - Mel, Trish, Alexx, Charlotte, Jeff, Robert, and Gord - and three new faces: Stephen "Chain Breaker" Norman, Jamie "Rabbit" Gilgen, and Evan "Don't Follow my Line" Glazer.
A bit of a slow start, as Trish had to demonstrate how hard she could ride her brand new bike, and promptly knocked her saddle apart, while Stephen decided to live up to his nickname on the…Continue
Despite an iffy weather forecast, the conditions for the first MTB beginner night were ideal.
Thanks to Jeff's excellent instruction, the mix of Monday night regulars and new riders quickly conquered the basics of MTB riding, and within an hour we were bombing down the Don River East bank trails!
Thanks to everyone for coming out - it was a blast and I hope to see you all next…Continue
It had looked like this weeks ride would be cancelled because of rain, but the trails are still really dry and dusty. There's definitely an advantage to not being the last rider on these sorts of conditions!
Anyway, no pictures this week as I forgot my camera, and I forgot that my BlackBerry takes pictures (yes, I really can be that stupid sometimes).
Next week (weather permitting) - beginners night! Details will be posted soon on the group page:…Continue

Another cruise in the Don Trails, this time on the north trail system which I haven't been on for a while. Lots of really steep climbs (yay!) and descents which I didn't do so well on.
Next week, I promise to get that front brake fixed. It will either help with the descents, or I'll have to just 'fess up that I'm lousy going downhill.
Thanks everyone for coming out, See you next…Continue
A small group - Jeff, Robert, Gord, and Peter - gathered for the first Monday evening BCC MTB ride. The weather was decidedly un-April like, and we had a nice time tackling the main Crothers' Wood trails between Pottery Road and Flemmington Park.
With Jeff's help, we've even scouted areas for beginners/skills sessions, as several people have indicated a desire for an "Introduction to MTB" session.
Hope to see more BCC'ers out for the next…Continue
