Do you have a CX or Mountain bike? Welcome to join in the fun.
Last year we had a blast riding the trails beside the Don bike path, so let's do it again!
6:30 pm tonight - Meet at the dog park at the west end of Taylor Creek bike path (same place as last year)
Will be riding north to Sunnybrook playing fields and back, depending on where people want to go and trail conditions.
This is a No drop ride, pace to suit.
Hope that we get some…Continue

Hooray CX season is here!
What a fantastic day for the first CX race of the season. BCC was well represented, special congratulations to Conor McInnis (Mike's son) for racing in the U13 race.
Marko Li, Paul McKeever, Bruce Day, Jeff Norman, Mike McInnis, Jeff McCachren, CS boys Mike Nyby and Jake Williams plus a few old friends.
This course is…Continue
How about backwards downhill, front wheel, feet off the pedals!
Vittorio Brumotti is unbelievable.
A few keeners, including me, couldn't bear to put the bikes away yet so we've been riding…Continue
Lets see - Me, IanM, IanW, SteveJ, PeterC, PeterS, SteveF, BruceD, Chris, JodyNB, PatB,JimW,JasonS for the start to Goodwood leg then joined by AndrewM and John for the return. A little rough to get out of the city on Warden, but is there really a good way?
Warden North of Finch, was fantastic, we…Continue
No reason to hang up the bike yet. The clothing is one challenge that I had a pretty good handle on, but the feet suffered in cold and wet conditions. Slush spraying onto the shoe covers would eventually creep around the booties and into the shoes and feet would be cold.
After two rides, I like the shoes I just got, enough to comment.
Garneau O winter shoes; these beauties have an inner shoe with the wire/dial system for tightening, an integrated neoprene outer with a…Continue
My first CX race, and it was fun. It was my best CX race ever!
Woke up early and drove with Mel to Centennial Park near near Rathburn and 427. Suns up and it is going to be beautiful, great for my first experience with CX racing. The morning mist was starting to burn off, but there was still frost in the grass. Check-in at 8:30, pin on the numbers and go for a few practice laps to learn the course and warmup before the 10am start.
Stakes in the ground with flagging…Continue
That's Paul, Jon, budding all-star Owen, Bruce and Colin ready for action.
(Can you guess who Owen belongs too?)
MIA's were stuck in traffic, complaining of 'sore' legs from Centurion, away racing, had to work ... so the rest us did our best to fill in a do a bunch of laps.
Have to say, this one…Continue

This year's addition of the 24hrs of Summer Solstice was a blast again. Compliments and thanks to Chico Racing and crew for putting on a fantastic event. Combine camping, not sleeping, hanging out with friends, and riding bikes in the woods and this is what we got on the weekend. Andrew W and I plus 3 others competed (more like completed!) at Albion Hills conservation area. The format is a team relay, about 400 teams, varying from the really nutty solo's, to 8 person corporate. We…Continue
5 BCCers, that I knew of, made the trek to Ottawa for this edition of the Rideau Lakes ride, Mohamed for his first time, Ken B, Steve J, Ian W, me. This year’s edition was sold out by the end of March at 2200 riders. The ride, for you who aren’t familiar, is a two day event, start in Ottawa on Saturday, ride to Queens in Kingston, eat tons in the dining hall for…Continue
Looks like the Ride for Heart was another successful showing for BCC. For a few of us that missed RfH it was good day in the wind, and fortunately we missed the rain, or rather the rain missed us.
Ian and I had arranged to try to get in a longer ride. My day started with a text from Ian at 6:30 "are we on?" My reply was "let's get to grinder to see who is there", then then the heavens opened up. Phone call, change plans, we'll start at 7:30.
Lesson for me, look at BCC…Continue
Only 24 days till Santa visits and a few of us were following Alex the explorer. There is a real world application for CX bikes, and we lived it on Saturday. Gravel paths, grass pathways in the hydro cuts, single track along the creeks and Patryk even executed a smooth high speed…Continue
Great weather for November! Roads were damp, but no rain and it was warm. Maybe some wobbles for starting at 7:30am after the end o' season party, but, with the weather forecast I couldn't miss the opportunity. The typical cast of characters, Alex, Ian, Paul, Andrew M, Charles, Jamie, Patrick, Steve J, and me, showed up. The route was 128km, up Leslie to Vandorf, Vandorf to Warden, Warden N to Herald, Herald E to ninth, Ninth S to Vivian, Vivian E to Ydurham, YD S to 8th, 8th to 3rd…Continue
Well, our fearless leader was showing off his new bike on the ride last Saturday by doing the Dan thing. Riding well in the group then kicking in the turbo and flying of the front. The Danforth Sprint was a perfect example, an early kick took advantage of group disorganization and posturing, Dan was away. When we caught him his comment was, “It’s the…Continue
Weather gods shone upon us again!
Fun fast ride and great work by everyone. I think this was among my favorite rides of the year!
Up Leslie with nearly no stops, around Musselman's, Wagg, sprint down concession3 to butter tarts, and fast home with a tail wind.
115 km, left grinder at 7:05, home by 11:20.
Slightly overcast to start, a little fog on Wagg Rd, and glorious sunshine from Goodwood to home. Cool temperatures made the choice of clothes interesting. …Continue
Well, last year a few rode this route, Alex, Ian and Charles of course, and I heard all about how great it was, how quiet the roads are, how wonderful the views of the rolling countryside and the lake vistas. I jumped at the chance to ride it this time.
Not to be a spoiler but, the story ends well, it was all it was billed to be.
We met at Oshawa GO at 8:10am, Alex, Charles, and Jody by train, I drove ('cause I slept in alittle). A little riding in town, over to and thru…Continue
Never know what the weather will bring, what we got was a wonderful ride!
Marco, Lana, Dan, Neil, James, Frank and me all get Kudos for being keeners! Grinder at 8:00 guess what, no rain.
A few different rides happened, Marco went south, Dan and Lana did zoo + Pickering, and the remaining 4 rode up Leslie to 19th, over to Stouffville for a quick espresso, and home down Ressors. And guess again, yup sunshine for most of the route.
Our ride was great, we worked well and…Continue
