We LOVE You KELD! Get Well soon!

Hey all,

Ok so I saw Simon's Instagram this morning that the boys were going to do a 200Km day to Collingwood and I thought AWESOME!

I was surprised to get a message from an old friend Matt Wallis who is now a fire fighter with a picture of a busted up bike.  Pic Matt sent me from the fire truck(Above)

Turns out on their way up, the small group of guys had a run in with a car making a left out to go southbound as they were headed north.  Robin and Simon jammed on the brakes and so did Keld, but he wasn't so lucky as he hit the back of the car and got catapulted and landed on his knee.  Fire and Ambulance were there within 5 mins and Simon made a call to Sunnybrook to an Orthropedic surgeon friend of his to give him a heads up on Keld's situation.  Needless to say his bike is not functional(Keld's Bike at the Fire Hall  - below)

I wanted to post this to let everyone know as I am sure if you have met or ridden with Keld and his wife Petra they are some of the nicest people around!  This is such and unfortunate event.  So I wanted to support Keld in this time and help him in his recovery with the support of the club.  BCC is one big family!

Petra will get in touch me me and keep me abreast of his progress and I will let you all know.

Oh, and of course in the Keld's style, he's like "You guys better not turn back!"

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Dan.

So sorry to hear about your crash.  Relieved that it isn't more serious than it already is.  Best of luck through surgery and recovery.

So sorry to hear this Keld - hang on to that positive attitude, it will carry you thru. Petra, let Heather or I know if there's anything we can do to help.

Caught the Instagram pix and comments earlier. All looked a heavenly day with the boys. Noticed a comment about Keld not being able to join or something, figuring he had a last minute change of plan. Then Dru mentioned this blog post. This is the kind of news that makes me physically ill. And angry. My best to you and a complete recovery, Keld. I'm glad you had riding partners as knowledgeable – and connected – as Drs. Kelley and Murnaghan.

Thanks everyone so much for the kind words ... Sadly it's 1115pm, Keld hasn't eaten or had water since 530am and we have no way to find out when his surgery will be. He's now sardined into a 3 person room with 2 old men that talk and groan in their sleep (am hoping that's the extent of it but I doubt it ... ;))!!! We were told he'd be operated on tonight regardless but just don't know when. Simon told us if he had to wish an orthopaedic wound on Keld that this would be it ... Totally fixable, lots of rehab but an excellent prognosis. So he'll come out of this for sure ... Just a bit to get over the initial hump for now ... Thank you all so much for your concern... It has sustained us both so very much ! We are just so grateful he lived to tell about this and feel your love !

I picked up two boxes of Garneau gels from Dan today, I could drop a couple off, Keld's choice lemon or espresso... :)
