6 keen souls brave the wind and snow!

Alan, Bob, Christian, Peter, Scott and I carried the BCC flag up Warden.  Welcome back to Alan, and nice to meet you Bob.   After a send off from Evan, Dan and Lana, who chose warm coffee instead of the ride, we headed N up Warden.  The road started dry, light snow flurries but not enough to even dampen the road.  By the 401 a little dampness on the road, by 14th ave, snowing harder, by hwy 7 very hard, by 16th ave the road was covered, heavy damp flakes coated the clothes.  Rather than tempt the snow gods further, we turned back down Warden.

As though on cue, the heavy snow falling changed to light flurries and road surface from snow to slush. More south, the wetter the road, and spray off the wheels was chilly!  It was way colder riding when the road was wet than when it was snowy.

I think that in these conditions waterproof clothes, shoes, gloves are the key to staying comfortable.  I think everyone was okay until the snow became slush, then water, on the road. As soon as the dampness got thru to skin, it was cold.  Next time, I'll use the shoe covers.

Great to ride with you guys!   Next week, sunshine, warm, and tail winds.

WOW, hats off to you guys!!! I was running when the hail was coming down sideways at about 9:30am, thinking I am sure nobody is riding in this ugliness. Good to see you proved me wrong.

You people are insane. I don't feel sorry for you - not one bit. I had the good sense to sleep in and spend most of the morning in PJs drinking lattes while you mentalcases went out in weather that would make Irish fishermen shudder. I'll think twice before I trust any of your judgement in the future...

... buncha crazy weirdos.

And nice going with the booties post, Dru... maybe you wanna post something about wearing a tank top to the store in May... that'll guarantee that we never get warm weather... 'till July. Nice Work. Grrrrr. I'm going back to bed...

Holy crap guys!  Last night, after listening to weather predictions that included phrases like "80km winds" and "rain and snow" and "windchill" we decided to revert to indoor trainers.  Got up, saw the sunny sky at around 7:30 and were thinking that we'd made the wrong decision....then heard rain on the windows and later saw snow???  Yup, it was onto the rollers/bike trainer for us.  Glad that you all had fun and a safe yet snowy trip.
Looking forward to making a group ride at some point this season - Dru PLEASE put back on the booties, k?

I think Bobby has some company regarding mental status!  Couch or bike - bike wins!

Keep in mind, that I only have all of your best interests in mind. You all need to toughen up! LOL That said, I was nice and cosy sleeping-in both days this weekend! Bikini weather next week y'all!

I don't think a hot bath has ever felt better than it did when I got home!  Thanks for a great ride everyone.
