An extremely windy Labour Day ride (no pic - sorry!)

With the dubious forecast this morning, I'll admit that I wasn't expecting to see that many people at the grinder. My apprehension turned to elation when I pulled up at 7:30 and saw 14 people waiting to go! :)

We began our ride heading straight north into a very challenging, gusty headwind. We kept a very strong pace through the wind, taking short turns at the front to keep the group together and in good stead. Once we turned south on Ninth Line, we were able to kick our pace up. There were some good stretches where the group was cruising in the 55-60km/h range. We had definitely earned the opportunity to ride that speed! Anyway, thank you to everyone for coming out for what I'll call our first taste of autumn. Please feel free to comment about your experience.

Steve, Kerri, Brian, and James: I hope you made it home safe and had a good time overall.

Thanks for organizing this ride Paul.  It was a great route and, as always, great company!  One of the best parts was speeding down 9th line leading into Stouffville - I think I set a new max speed on my bike computer.

And thanks to everyone for waiting while my flat was fixed.

Paul, thanks for organizing the ride.  This route should be a BCC regular,  it could easily be set up with short turns so that different groups could arrive at Stouffville at the same time.

Thanks Paul for planning and watching over the ride. Great job. Good on all you guys to carry on as rain threatened behind the dark clouds with cool temps and high winds. I called it at Stouville as I have seen enough riding in the rain this season and I also felt I would have been under dressed if rain was added to the mix. Rule number 5 is getting more and more of a struggle for me. Fast ride back for Kerri and I. Think we did not go much below 40KPH all the way home.

Thanks very much everyone, it was a great ride, the way up north was one of the best team work that I ever had; having such a great team spirit made this wind much easier than it would be otherwise
