So a bunch of us decided against the forecast and showed up for the 7AM Start. With this sunrise, how can you say no?
We all left as a group heading up Don Mills - some with the intention go to stouffville, or at least north of 16th Ave. As we worked up Don Mills I made an effort to split the group into two as to accommodate the wide range of fitness/skill levels. Even though we were split, the second group always had the first group in site. We made the turn on 16th Ave. and after Warden, we noticed there were some riders stopped. After further investigation, it was determined that J-Rod's new gleaming bike had a broken chain.
This was attributed to his raw power as he was sprinting on the downhill towards Kennedy. Luckily he was safe and so was his bike, kinda. We managed to get him to Starbucks, where he arranged to be chauffeured home.
The rest of us said out good-byes and headed south(home). The way back was met with significant wind and threats of rain and hail. We managed to avoid the bad precipitation, I managed to get our entire group home in one piece. We had 6 stronger riders rotating at the front and the rest of us just "sat in" and stayed shielded by the crazy head wind. Great work by the new BCC'ers Simon and David. You worked hard and well today! Although the weather wasn't ideal, a good group, with great cohesion working well together made it all worth it! Till next week...Comments Welcome.
As we were riding home, J-Rod was spotted in the limo:
