Another fun evening - great to see everyone out!
Although there's some road construction happening at Brimley, the road is still open for traffic and still ride-able as long as you take it easy on the descent. That's a warning that usually would be best applied to me, but I was taking it a bit easy tonight as I didn't want to destroy my legs right before the Provincial Championship Road Race on Sunday.
However, some people clearly weren't holding back completely... On the return sprint, Andrew Mouck looked to have an insurmountable lead but he didn't count on hard man Steve "Mr. Fantastic" Fantaske coming out to smack us around.
That's Steve, from the rear, which is pretty much the only way the rest of us saw him. Also pictured is Peter Skalenda, who helped chase Andrew down.... Steve took the sprint and the Green Jersey, and Andrew was left nothing but tears.
Cycling is a cruel sport. And as Andrew will tell you, this guy handing around in the background is just plain mean on a bike.
As for the Polka Dot jersey, well it was a tough choice as we had three solid climbers this week; when everyone else decided to leave Brimley for a nice quick Tour de Scarborough, Jeff Norman, Trish Norman, and Steve Jones stayed behind to put in another ten or twenty repeats! Or something.
I'm awarding the Polka Dot jersey to Jeff this week on the basis that.. well, of the die-hards, his picture came out the best. (We have a rationale - no one can say that our virtual jersey awards are awarded arbitrarily!)
More pictures can be seen here.
