Well, it wasn't quite as bad as the two previous weeks, but it certainly was hard, hard work tonight!
Smaller crowd, as some of our regulars are racing in BC and vacationing in France, but still some pretty intense climbing. As a special treat, we headed over to Bethune Boulevard to revisit that hill. Bethune is nowhere near as nasty as Meadowcliff and much shorter than Brimley; stronger riders can actually power up in the big ring, but it's a good hill to learn to pace yourself on - the grade is pretty constant and for most people its long enough that if they go into the red (anaerobic) they won't be able to maintain their pace.
King of the mountains tonight goes to Jim Weir who launched a vicious attack on the first Bethune climb to pip Steve J and myself at the line. Good to see, and I think Jim just volunteered to pace QB and myself up the climbs at Provincials this weekend!
Not sure who nabbed the green jersey on the Danforth sprints this evening - I jumped WAY too soon and got dropped 300m short of Birchmount.
