Another Sunny Saturday: Completed!

Great to See everyone out.

Things to Note(Group Safety):

1. Always check to make sure you check for yourself and move safely around a parked car or object. ie. Signal, Check for cars/other cyclists, and safely proceed around the obstacle. Don't assume it's safe, cause it's your safety as well as the safety of the group at stake. Be Predictable - See Rider Notes Summarized

2. Riders at the back, knowing of a turn(left) please secure the lane change and then let others in front of you know once you have safely secured the lane to make the left turn. Riders at the front can not make that decision because they can't see through people.

3. Riding up a Hill in a group. In order to keep the group from spreading(wide) on a hill, try and secure your position in the pace line where you are comfortable, or in most cases when you don't have an option, leave a gap.

This is 2-fold:
a) You can take the hill at your own pace without getting run over by the person behind you.
b) You can take the hill at your own pace without running the person in front of you.

When at the top, leaders should make sure the group is all caught up(re-group). Thought process here is that its better to regroup at the top of a hill than at the next light.

Remember, there is safety in the group, but the responsibility of each rider is increased, because your actions affect the group as a whole, We want to make sure that as BCC riders, we set the standard for safety and enjoyment the same.

Thanks for taking the time to read my notes.

Dan.

Sage advice Dan! I always think to myself that when riding in the group, every individual is at one time or another responsible for the safety of the peloton and I try to act accordingly.

Great ride today. Windy out there. Thanks for all the big pulls Emile!

After those rebels in the front of the pack chose the longer route, Alexx, Liz, Mel and I had a great ride! We rode in perfect double file, shared pulls at the front and were rewarded for our great form by being first to back to Grinder. Good ride everyone, lets do it again next week! Jeff

That was a great ride, indeed, Jeff! The four of us tackled the Kingston rollers with ease - it was fun! Good to beat the coffee rush too. See you next week indeed! Good work!
