Appreciation for Greg "The godfather" Michener. You will be missed.

Hey all,

Just wanted to inform you that Greg will be taking a leave from riding with the BCC due to personal reasons.

I wanted to write this post to show/tell him how much he has helped the BCC and new members learn skills, gain confidence, ride safe and most importantly: HAVE FUN!

On a personal note I have know Greg for a few years now and he is a stand up guy! Always willing to help me out(BCC Rider Notes), and there to share a fine glass of wine and play a mean guitar! Thanks buddy!

It is not determined as to his return date, however, I hope to make him feel that the members of the BCC care about him and are there if he needs anything. Please comment below, what you may.....

Cheers,

Dan.

Got to know Greg on the Ride for Karen. We shared a hard experience doing l00 miles in pouring cold rain last year. The guy is tuff as nails and has a great sense of humor. On my drive into work this morning I was thinking about some of his comments and started to laugh. Serious. Was thinking about what a great person he is and how much he has contributed to the club. Thought Dan was simply sending us all a reminder and now this? Not sure what the hell is going on but I am concerned and if I can do anything to help please let me know.

Greg-
You will definitely be missed- and hopefully you'll be back very soon. I think a little hiatus is well deserved especially if you get some time to invest in yourself. Your skills sessions were fantastic and have welcomed in a cadre of new BCCer's that will hopefully keep the pedals turning for some time to come. Your sprit and amazing sense of humour help us all through the endless miles and up and over those long hills. Hopefully we'll see you back in the pack soon. Dave O.

Greg, your sense of humour and good spirit helped me along last season on MANY of those horrible hills on the first Stouffville ride I did. I can't thank you enough for the support you showed on that ride and the many that followed. I still think that we should market the beer rate monitor that we spoke about - would be a hit for sure! Hurry back Greg, you will be missed!

Greg, I appreciate the skills you thought me along the way. Thanks for the tips and help! And for your patience to a rookie like me. Like you said as we get to the hills, "always keep smilin!" and "its just another piece of real estate property to take on!" Your good sense of humor along the ride keeps me upbeat during those uphill climbs, and making it more enjoyable although I just huff and puff. And its been a pleasure to learn from you. Hope to see you again and cracking up jokes along the way, you will be missed! Always keep smilin

Cheers

All the best Greg, I certainly appreciated your camaraderie out on the rides, and I know for sure that my son appreciated your advice and guidance last week. It is fantastic when your 15 year old says to you " dad this group riding is really fun!" I attribute that comment to you. Thanks

Quoted from "the godfather":

Dear BCC Members Friends:

Over the last few days I have gazed in awe at the comments left to Dan’s May 5th posting. I’m speechless and for those who know me well that is no small feat. I am moved to the point of tears by your warm wishes and offers to assist. I must admit I never realized I had this type of influence on the riders and by no means do I mean to sound conceited: quite the contrary. The goal I set for myself this year was to help out new members and demonstrate the guidance and patience that so many of the veterans of this wonderful club afforded me when I first started out. I’m getting the sense from your comments that I have begun to achieve my goal.

As Dan noted, I have left BCC for personal reasons that I will not bore you with. It is certainly my intention that once I have dealt with those issues that I will join you again on those crazy two-wheeled machines we call road bikes.

Humbly yours,

….greg
