Hello Ladies of the BCC! Rapha is promoting a ride called the Rapha Women's 100. http://www.rapha.cc/womens100 on Sunday of this weekend. This is a ride that will take place all over the world, in any location. Women are encouraged to get our and ride 100km together, on a course of their choosing. This event is meant to celebrate camaraderie and the joy of riding - it's not a race, but a celebration of how much we all love riding our bikes!
I thought that we could do a BCC Women's 100 ride on Sunday as part of our club ride. I think that BCC has a lot of women riders, mostly because the fellows have been so welcoming and helpful and the women have encouraged other women to come out and ride! When I joined 6 years ago, there were only a handful of ladies in the club, and look at us now! I'd hazard a guess that we have more women members than the other clubs in the city! Because of Dan's leadership and the inclusive, helpful friendly nature of our club atmosphere, it's a great club with both male and female members existing and riding together.
This ride isn't meant to exclude the guys in the club, because we love and appreciate our male pals and co-riders, but how fun would it be to see a big group of ladies all riding together enjoying a sport which, 10 years ago, was pretty much a male-dominated sport? I'm pretty sure I could manage to change a flat,… anyone else?
I was thinking that Goodwood would be a good route for us to do. It's just over 100km from Grinder, and it's a good tried and true route. 7am start on Sunday morning. I was hoping that we could keep us all together - ride "social pace" so that everyone can enjoy the ride.
I'd like us to all wear BCC kit, if possible (whatever you have) so that we can take several photos and perhaps send them to Rapha as part of the Toronto representation of the ride.
If you like, there are several ways to sign up and post your ride. You can find the info on the Rapha link above. You can sign up on Strava, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter…
If you're interested in joining this ride option on Sunday, please sign up for the Sunday ride and mention that you'd like to come along. I think it will be fun! You can click on the link to sign up for the Sunday ride: http://beachescyclingclub.ning.com/group/2013-sunday-morning-rides/...
