Wow, that truly was a fantastic event.

Thank you to all of the BCC'ers that came out and made this a day that those kids will remember. You all showed great enthusiasm and caring (running kids around the 2km loop is just one example!). I could tell that those little folks felt that they have a community around them that cares. It may be only a small positive change in their lives, but a nudge, nevertheless, in the right direction.

Thanks again. BCC'ers making a difference.

Had a great time out there! These are the kind of events that bring communities together and get the right kinda positive word out about supporting the infinite potential of our city's youth and promoting safe cycling to boot. This was an awesome opportunity for us to offer our support and experience as a club that excels in safety and camaraderie to a vibrant group of kids, parents, volunteers, community leaders, and police officers. You could feel the positive energy and excitement as each group headed around the crit. We were also humbled by how fast these kids can ride!!! To top things off, I had a great trip up and home with some really cool cats!

P.S. anyone believe, after the sly look on that horse's face after he was done his business, that he pooped on the roadway on purpose before the parade? Yep....

Such a great day!  I wasn't quite sure what I was in for, but my expectations were certainly exceeded.  Fantastic group of kids.  From the first-timers who demonstrated great courage getting on a bike in the first place, let alone heading out along a 2km course into the wind, to those tearing up the course at a shockingly good pace (a little friendly competition never hurt anyone).  I heard from a lot of the kids while chatting out on the course that they thought they weren't good at cycling and I know at least a few were surprised to find out that they were actually quite good at it.  Then there were those who showed great sportsmanship and support for their fellow riders- I overheard one such participant say to his neighbour who was clearly a little nervous about his upcoming race, "It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, you still get to keep the bike."  Enough said.

This was my second year attending the event and last year the rain made it memorable as we watched groups of kids undeterred by the weather brave the elements and give their all and enjoy themselves in the process. This year the weather was awesome, allowing us to ride up and back as a group, which was also very cool. But the looks of amazement and determination on the kid's faces made the whole day worthwhile, from the young man who crossed the finish line with his hands raised high in the air, to the young girl who could hardly balance but still completed the heat. Kudos for Megan for walking the entire course in her cycling shoes as she held the seat balancing this girl allowing her to ride, and Mel for walking with both her bike and Megan's, all the while shouting words of encouragement and support.

I look forward to next year's event  and hope that any members who have not yet attended to do so and be awed by the kids and the support of the volunteers, the community, Toronto Police and EMS, who all join the celebration.

Good Afternoon, Bernadette and Sandra
On behalf of Rick and all of us here at The Children's Breakfast Clubs, would you please extend our most sincere thanks to all of the members of the Beaches Cycling Club who attended the Bike Race on Saturday.   The BCC members did a fantastic job of organizing the children for the races, accompanying them around the race course, encouraging them to finish the race and talking to them about their love of cycling.
We were so happy with the great turnout - both of children and volunteers.  Everything went well - and hopefully the small things which did not were not noticed too much!  We know how busy all of your members are and we are very grateful that they took the time to join us on Saturday to help organize the event.  The role that everyone plays in the day's events is so important.  The presence of the members of the BCC did much to validate this event and make the community and the children feel valued.
The children had a great day - which was our goal.  Thank you for all that you did to make that happen.
With best regards, Alexandra

Once again I loved this fantastic event. I was going to say I missed the crappy weather which added (positively, really!) to last year's event, but the camaraderie of the group ride up and back more than made up for it. All involved in le Tour exude so much enthusiasm and care for the riders, and those kids repay them with an endless supply of spirit and determination. It was an honour to be involved once again. Disappointingly it comes toward the end of the riding season, but I still look forward to next year's Tour de Black Creek.
