CHEESY RIDE Update....R.S.V.P. TODAY!

To R.S.V.P.Click: I'm GOING!!!!

How it would work:

BCC Riders Leave at the Crack of Dawn(Like Usual) end up in Jordan at the Upper Canada Cheese Company. Families would leave later and meet riders HERE(Upper Canada Cheese Company). We all Indulge in a BBQ and have Wine and Cheese!

Here are the FOOD Details:

$25 Per Person(1 Burger)/$30 Per Person(2 Burgers)

This includes:

1 Local Burger with Smoked Comfort Cream on a Caramelized Onion Bun
Sauteed Onions
1 Serving local Ice cream (see below)
Use of our picnic area, including field for Childrens games
Tent - as you saw
1 staff member to co ordinate
Complimentary Cheese tasting

Toute Sweet brings her cart and will mix to order. She will have 2 flavours (your choice, we can provide the selection to choose from) and with these two flavours, she will bring 4 add ins to compliment - say grilled peaches with Niagara ice wine - or raspberries with sparking cave springs and choc chunks...or just kid friendly ones....

We'll get some more details next week -

Here are Route Options(By Paul van Dongen & DY):

1. LONG(Plus Hills) - 175kms

2. MED(No Rattlesnake) - 160kms

3. SHORT(Along the Lake) - 140kms

4. Short Course 90km
Flat as a pancake and 90k from MC Pk. Add 20 from L&L and that's 110... totally doable.
I've done it before. It goes along Lakeshore to Burlington (same as Short Option), then left and across the lift bridge, then follows the Waterfront Trail, which is very well marked. It avoids the Service Roads when it can, which is why it seems a tad convoluted, but it really is a no-brainer. At Beamsville it goes over the bridge then hooks up with Green Lane, meeting up with everyone else.

DATE: Sunday August 30th 2009 - ALL DAY EVENT

There will be a Lake Route(Directly there).... In the Process of designing it. Not as scenic but shorter. Also, if you plan on going, but are not sure of a way back, I will be starting to ASK Members how much extra room they have....

Cheers,

Dan.

Not sure I can manage more than the 140... Michael, I might take you up on your offer! I'm quite slow though... Anyone else planning on doing the totally flat 140km route around the lake? I haven't decided yet, but I think I can do it.

Haven't decided if i want to go, the challenges for me are a ride back home to Toronto. If I ever decided will do the short flat route of 140 around the lake.

Hi all-

I think my wife Andrea and I are in but we are sorting out logistics. I'm wondering how many people may be coming with younger kids? If it's just us, we may see if we can get the parents up to T.O. to look after them and we can take an "adult" day to ourselves. Our anniversary is the next day, so not being able to walk would be a great way to celebrate I think! Please let me know if anyone is planning on bringing their young ones to this. Thanks, DaveO.

Also, forgot to mention. I have been approached by some members and their spouses with the idea of bring Salads and add-ons to the Burgers and Ice Cream. Sound like a good idea? If so, please contact me or inform the group if you can/plan on bringing salads etc.

Cheers,

Dan.

I believe that I will be met at Niagara by the troops, meaning our 2 and 6 year old boys. Anyone else bringing kids? We could also bring salad or something like that to help out. Was there any thoughts about a kid-friendly meal offering? Not sure that the burger would work for our guys - if not, no biggie, we can bring food for them. I'm quite sure that they would LOVE the ice cream part!

Kerri-

First off- hope the Tour for Kids went well- congrats on doing that- it is an amazing event! We're just trying to sort out the kid thing ourselves on this one- Aidan is 3 1/2 and Caitlin 20mos. If you're bringing your little guys, that may work well. We were contemplating leaving them with the parents, but if there are other young ones at the event that would be great. Do you know if anyone else is coming with young kids? If it's just us, maybe we can sort out some good outdoor stuff for them to play with that afternoon. Hope all is well- DaveO.

Hey Dave - thanks the T4K was awesome! Legs a bit stiff today, but should be in fine working order for Sunday! A zoo loop in between might not hurt also :)
Our guys are 2 and 6, so the ages sound pretty good. Not sure about other with kids - will see what I can find out and will let you know. Basically if there's open space and some stuff to kick around etc., our guys will be fine. And they love playing with others so the more the merrier for sure! K

Found out today, that I am scheduled to WORK on Sunday at noon. But I will be more than happy to join the route for those taking the short route to Lakeshore until probably to Danish shop in Oakville. Be happy to be the domestique for those guys taking the Lakeshore route.
