EOS Ride in Dundas(Domestique) - Synopsis, Review, Pics/Video

Hey all,

Thanks to all that came out to participate in the EOS Ride.  It was definitely a beautiful day to be on the bike.  We welcomed a few new riders on the ride, all of which seemed to have a good ride at the end.  Dave and Leigh: I'am sorry I missed you on the head count.  Glad you were able to enjoy the sights, rollers and scenery all the same.  Thanks to Sean for helping push the pace.  Greg, thanks adding some distance for the stronger riders!  Jeff, thanks for helping lead a group.  Paul... thanks for helping with the explanation of the route and stuff.

From now on, Rides will take place in the Informal Ride Group.  Check here for the ride times and routes.

Also, don't forget the EOS PARTY is NOVEMBER 10th 2011. Partners and Spouses are welcome!

All in all a safe ride and great coffee.  Krys would like feedback on the food, coffee and overall value of the $20 pre-fix.

Please comment as you will... Be glad to hear how everyone fared.

A great end of season ride, couldn't be better day for the end of October. A very good route, thanks Paul and Dru, the roads are top notch and an excellent challenge. The ride into Dundas this morning was also quite sweet, with not another motorist on the road (ok, 4 past me from Winston Churchill to plains road!!). There is something to be said for the solitude of a crisp (2 degrees) Autumn morning. Unfortunately, I didnt take in the full hospitality of Domestique but the coffee and cookie were excellent. What I would offer from a route perspective (returning to toronto as I didnt go back to dundas with the group), is that #2 sideroad going east is not the right return trip. I can further assure you that Dundas (or highway 5) is definitely not the right road to head east - particularly the part just west of Bronte where the signs say no cyclists or pedestrians (what is a cyclist to do when he needs to cross the river?).

Thanks for organizing.

Loved Domestique!  The coffee, latte, cookies, grilled cheese and pumpkin ale were delish!  Beautiful day for a ride.  See my comments on Dave's post.  Til next year!

Really enjoyed the ride and the alternate route we did to get up to the top.  I didn't realize how far we climbed until we came back down at lunch.  Thanks to our little casual group and my hubby for sticking by.  The sights were beautiful and the weather just as good.  Need to make sure we order the same thing next year!

The lunch tasted amazing, but I was a little hungry after my half sandwich.  A little more would have been great.  The macaroons, as a treat, were probably the best I've ever had...nice and light and not too sweet.  Just right for the end of ride.

Thanks Dan and Paul for all the organization.

Compliments for a great route and thanks to Paul and Dan for co-ordinating.  Domestique coffee, and chilli was great although I agree with Trish, a little more would be better.  I think some kinks need to be worked out to cope with a big hungry group arriving all at once.

And, an apology for the stop on the way down Plains road where we missed the turn to Snake rd.  I saw the turn as we passed and called out to stop, then slowed and stopped.   Unfortunately it was a fast part of the descent and the group was bunched up and bearing down, add wind noise in the helmet and maybe the calls to slow and stop were missed.  Sorry to the people at the back that got a sudden surprise.

Probably the lesson here is to make sure to look well ahead of the rider in front of you and, keep normal spacing while you descend.  Bunching up and overlapping wheels doesn't leave enough space or time to cope with changes at the front.

The few grumpy comments aside, I really enjoyed the day and am glad we came back for round two!

A lovely day! Thanks to Jeff for staying with us and leading us so well on the route - our tiny "Jeff n' the Ladies" group of Me, Mel, Trish, Lana and Brooke grew along the route into a fun larger group, and we got to ride with lotsa folks that we don't often ride with - Emile, so much fun to have you along! And Nick, James, Steven and Leslie were also great company. Thanks for all the coaching and encouragement, Jeff, especially when my legs weren't co-operating on the last third of the ride! Paul, Dan and Andrew - thanks for organizing the route and the great ride.

Evan,

Krys, you make the tastiest coffee! And I think that the macaroon was truly the best I've ever eaten. It was an excellent day. Thanks everyone!

It was indeed a great day out! Although it was cool in the morning, it turned into quite the nice day. Why did I bring a jacket again?! Kudos to Dan and Paul for organizing everything and to Stefan for the ride to and from. Also, thanks to Krys and the rest of the Domestique staff for their great hospitality.

Just because there are no more official rides, doesn't mean the season is done! I will be out as often as I can until it is prohibitively cold and wet. :)
