Last Thursday I went to the BCC cross session led by Jrdo/Jman...the cyclist originally known as Jason (I think). Unfortunately due to injury, I wasn't able to participate but I managed to get a few pics and videos. It was a great night at Riverdale Park - lovely weather, friendly locals and a good turnout of about a dozen riders.
I would encourage anyone who is thinking of doing something different to give cross a try. It's a great workout, workout spots are local and you can set your own level. Jumping the barriers is only a tiny part of the course, and you always have the option of just riding around them. It's very social and it will improve your road performance.
It's also a good place for kids, since it's a lot safer than riding on the road. I brought my son out (8) and he had fun booting around on his mountain bike.
Normal riding spot is near Woodbine & Cosburn. Go to the end of Haldon Ave (off Cosburn) and you'll be there. Greenwood Park is also used later on in the season. Mondays & Thursdays at 6:30.
Here are a couple of short videos of the action:
