Wow, and I thought last week was a sweat-fest!
Pretty decent crowd this week, but it was quite the scorcher this evening, too. The best part of my night (besides standing in the sprinkler when I got home) was the descents - no pedaling, and the the breeze at 50+ km/h was really quite cooling.
We had some pretty amazing climbing going on, and we actually stayed at Brimley until 7:30pm or so. Admittedly, our departure was delayed slightly by the need to tighten up a headset, but that was only 5 minutes or so. It has been a while since we have made it over to Bethune Blvd., so next week we will cap the Brimley reps and experience some of the other hills on the bluffs. Yea!!!
No King of the mountains this week; instead another Queen of the Mountains! Congratulations, Jamie Gilgen. I think it was 7 reps this week, but I have to admit that after a few trips up and down Brimely, I was so beat that it was hard keep track.
As for the points leader (sprinter) for the week, that is a much harder call; we had some pretty impressive speedsters on the way back, but if I have to choose one person, I think it has to be Steve Jones. Others were faster at certain points, but Steve was consistently in the mix all night. Glad we got his headset fixed up, as I was frequently on his wheel to keep pace.
