Magic #30 - Who prayed for the wind?

Hey Everyone! Thanks to all that showed. The 90km+ group, give me a synopsis below in the comments section.

Welcome to Paul, Elene, and Trish(Beth)!

Hope you all felt welcomed and had a fun time! Let me know how it could be better, and we'll tweak the ride format!

Ride Stats for the Group I was with was 50kms Avg: 25km/h.

Enjoy the Pics!

Cheers,

Dan.

Wind Redux - I had the long group going about 97.13kms to gabbys. Avg speed was 26.5 with the first 47km done at 23.5km/h and a net climb of 140 meters (476 m of climbing and 336 meters of descent). It would be interesting to know the equivalent climb given the wind resistance. The return, which i lapped in at Vivian and woodbine was a total of 50km, average speed of 30.2km/hr, max speed of 61.8. net downhill of 165 meters. I used up 4,092 calories. Certainly a tough ride for the first time outside given the windy conditions.

In terms of riding distances and trying to ensure that nobody gets left behind, I would suggest that we go out in waves of riders that start with the quickest. For anyone who wishes to tuck into that group they can until they fall back from the group at which point they will be picked up by the next fastest. If you fall off that group then you get picked up by the next group and so on. The route today offered lots of opportunities to bail east and get to kennedy in order to regroup at the coffee shop. I think that works well. The same can be done when we go east.

Great to get back out there again, and although the wind made the 70 feel like 90, it was fun and was great to see so many people out for today's ride. Hoping that tomorrow's snow (?!?!?) only lasts til tomorrow and next weekend is a go! If so, see you then!

Hey! A great ride! Thanks QB for the pull back to the group after my missed turn and to Emile, James, Mark and Dave for the great pulls. I have some cramping issues to deal with, like maybe spending less time on the couch would help, and I hope to stick with the longer ride group by summer's end... My days ride ended at 110km in 3:55, 27ish kph. Next time I'll make it for coffee at Mercury too!

Yes, it was windy and cold but still a great ride. I'm very happy with the new wheels. After 70k, I still had gas in the tank. This is not typical and I think the wheels have a lot to do with that. Also huge difference climbing.
I could even accelerate on the way up! Wow!
Now if Dan could get me that new set of legs I ordered...
