Hello All, a huge thank you to all that have supported Peter Oyler. For those who are interested in endurance cycling to the extreme, RAAM will start for the solo riders on June 11th, 2013 from Oceanside California. Peter is now in California getting ready for his 3rd assault on RAAM, the first in 2007 was successful (the 8th Canadian to finish this race) and in 2009 he had to abandon due to health issues. He is determined to make up for unfinished business in 2013. Part of his crew is our own James Young.
If you are interested in following Peter's exploits, please log into the www.peteroylerraam.com blog and there should be updates. Of course the RAAM website will have some modest tracking capabilities. @peteroyler twitter feed should be alive with on-the-road tweets from his crew and retweets from me @06irnmanQB. Finally, we will be uploading Peter's power files from the road on to Strava - so follow Peter there. For those of you who have trained with power, Peter is being sponsored by Stages Cycling. This latest power measurement tool (the left crank arm) is going to be added to all three of Peter's bikes (Specialized Tarmac, Focus Izalco and the Franco Balcom). Stay tuned, this could be one of the toughest tests of the Stages Power meter (3,000 miles, 100,000 vertical feet and all kinds of heat, cold and who knows what). If it works, this would be a real value proposition for anyone wanting to ride with power given it is half the price of other leading power measurement tools. Stay tuned.
As you follow Peter in the world's toughest race (more people have summited Everest than finished RAAM), please feel free to send him best wishes at firstname.lastname@example.org. His crew will be reading him the messages to keep him motivated. Remember, he has his butt in the saddle every day for about 22 hours, from June 11th through June 22nd. He will need all the good karma he can get.
Thanks again, for supporting Peter.
