While the weatherman was calling for rain yesterday we only got about 5 minutes of rain over the 6 hour 160km Ride for Karen circuit yesterday. It was a great experience for a great cause but talk about challenging. Not having done the ride before I really didn't know what to expect. Unlike the relatively flat Ride to Conquer Cancer, this baby has hills, and lots of them. Not being a real fan of hills (is anybody?) I struggled from time to time, but you when you think about the cause your riding for it puts everything in perspective and makes you thankful you can even be on a bike with legs burning doing about 12 km/h up the umpteenth hill of the day. All very gratifying. Special thanks to Dave Ogilvie who assisted greatly in helping me get pushed over the top of my $1000.00 fundraising goal. Thanks to all BCCers who have assisted me in becoming a stronger and hopefully better rider over the last two seasons. I know I could not have done this ride without the Saturday and Sunday rides with the club. Thanks guys!
