A group of 12 of us rode up north today using the same route as Labour Day Monday. It was a much nicer day without the wind and with the really cohesive and cooperative group, we were able to stay tight for the whole route (regardless of terrain). Overall, it was an amazingly fast ride over the 125km distance. I clocked a 32.1 km/h average with a 70.1 km/h max. Thanks for the awesome ride everyone!

We unfortunately lost someone around Don Mills and York Mills (David?). We stopped at Sheppard and I turned back to try to find out where he was, but couldn't find him.  I even climbed the hill up to the 401 again for, you know, fun. Anyway, I hope you were able to get a good ride in and didn't get caught out with a mechanical or something. A report on what happened would be great. :)

Jeff's alternative route back into the city from Saturday is a beauty and should definitely be incorporated as a main re-entry from the north east.

Until next time!

Couple of cool quotes for the day: As Steve J and I inhaled a couple sandwiches back at Grinder after the ride I said to him, "Man that was a hard ride!". His deadpan response was perfect. "They are all hard rides". 70klms plus until we stopped for a break with a  plus 31 average speed on the way up over some sharp rollers had me talking to myself. Think Steve is bang on with his comment. They usually are always hard. They just get faster. Great ride everyone. Badge of courage goes to Jamie for finishing half the ride with a broken handle bar. "I still have my front brake and the bar wrap seems to be holding it together".

My legs are tired today!

I'll have to check the calibration of my bike computer, I show an average of 33.1 Kph for 120km.  The distance is messed up a bit as the front wheel was on backward until it was switched at O'connor and Donlands, but I think the average is correct for time we were riding.  Maybe the garmin includes the time we were stopped?

Anyone else have stats?

Another great ride. My stats are comparable to Paul's - avg 32.1 for 130km.  It was up to about 32.5 before we started hitting all the lights on the way back into the city.

Dave, glad you are okay. We wondered what happen, hope it is a simple repair.
