Well the temperature is rising and the sense of spring is certainly in the air. Of course, there is likely 2 more months of this snow to contend with which means i continue to be relegated to the trainer.Once again I made my way to wattsup for the "3 hour tour".
I felt good heading into the ride. We were going to do the steelman 70.3 (in the uk i believe), which would be a relief given the mountainous Nevada ride of the previous week. There were 4 BCC members again there today, Steve, Kerri, James and myself. I went out relatively strong with a focus on riding zone 2 but certainly building the watts through the ride. during the first 90 minutes i put up 236 watts on average and my heart rate had settled into a range of 147-152, which is low level 2 for me. I thought i can negative splt the ride and push my watts over 240 in the back half but this was not to be. I am not sure where my power went (maybe i left on the road yesterday with 12k run) but i couldnt keep the watts and ended up posting a 221 average, which would suggest the back 90 minutes was ugly.
Oh well, the training has begun and I think these rides have been a phenomenal benefit to my winter training thus far.
