Sunday Long Espresso to Domestique

Hey everyone!

Great ride today! Sunny, safe, good company, and sore legs...

I hope you all had fun. I'm supposed to pass on thanks from the DH guys, they were happy to be able to come out and ride with such a good bunch of people. Thi, I'm glad Sean made you work for your hills, he's pretty tough! LOL Thanks for the coffee at Domestique.

Nick, Jodi, Stephen and Quentin, next time you gotta come the whole way with us!

Cheers and thanks!

Hey guys a very good route, still a challenge to get out of the city quickly but once we get onto mississauga road then things pick up quite quickly. Very nice rollers and some good climbs (probably good to do snake road going up vs down). Given i put up a century ride at 162kms, I am not sure what you guys booked. The headwinds coming home as a single rider certainly remind you about the power of the peleton. I was crushed when I got home, partially the result of not taking in enough food. Here are my stats for your viewing pleasure, need to get my cadence working again and the heart rate strap needs a tighten.

Big thanks are to be paid to Paul VD too for helping to devise and perfect the route, to Emile and Jorge (from DH) for testing it and to Jorge again for bringing his crew out and making sure his riders and everyone else was safe and was having fun!

Next time we go out there, a group should expect to do both the Snake Rd and Old Dundas climbs! QB and Thi, you guys up for it?

I am up for it, not sure my climbing ability comes anywhere close to Thi's - but always up for a challenge!

I echo the others' sentiments in saying that was indeed a fantastic day! Wicked and fantastic as I was toast by the end of it.

Thanks to Andrew and Jorge for getting it going, and for doing most of the pulling of my ass and leg-cramped self back home! The vistas and route were quite spectacular, particularly the Lwr Base Line - Side Road 2 & 1 combo.
Here's a request: could we try to work them all into (or instead of) the Rattlesnake ride?

Great to meet the DH crew, and always great to taste Krys Hines' coffee at the far end. Definitely all worth the trip to Dundas!

QB: for what it's worth, my odometer said 182.5.

So, I'm thinking the only way we could do all three climbs, Old Dundas Rd, Snake Rd and Rattlesnake, would be to ride to Dundas along Lakeshore. From there, we head out on Old Dundas Rd, then come back down into Dundas, then head out up the way we came in the other day, up Snake rd, across 2nd, 1st etc then up Rattlesnake, back down and home. This route has an added benefit of letting people decide whether they want to do the Rattlesnake loop or head directly home... Jeez, I just re-read the paragraph, how confusing... anyway, I'm working on a route...

In order to make it even more feasible, I would suggest that we drive to marie curtis park and start the ride at that point. This ensures that we can still get a very robust ride in before noon (a key point for me, if not for others). It also cuts off quite a bit of city riding that is more junk miles than anything else. If we started out there for about 6:15am, we could easily get in the full route. I can certainly have four riders in my car.
I think this is about 92 miles, for those who wish to get a full century ride in, I am sure there is a loop or two that could be accomplished. We could stop in a coffee shop in milton. Nothwithstanding this is ONLY 92 miles :), with the hamilton mountain climb, snake road and rattlesnake, it will be sure to kick our butts.

Secretly, I was thinking it might even be better to drive to Dundas... let alone Marie Curtis...

Hey fellas it all sounds cool... unfortunately, I won't be able to make next it the two Sundays. That said, I can plan it and one of you guys can lead it! What do you say Dan, QB, Thi?
