Fabulous ride across Vandorf with a great bunch doing lots of communication and sharing the work.  The pace kept ramping up: 27.5 as we turned on to Kennedy; 29.6 as we pulled into Starbucks and 30.1 back at Grinder.  Many thanks to Paul for suggesting a great extension route, and to everybody in the group for a great morning.

Our group rode the Vandorf-unionville route too.Fantastic route. It took about 20km for us to smooth things out but then we all really clicked as a group gradually upping the pace throughout the ride. By the time we got to vandorf we seemed to be clicking along at 33-35kph The section between 19th up over the top of Van Doorf and down Kennedy was awesome, silky smooth and fast. On Kennedy Evan had a rush of blood and politely enquired as to whether he could turn on the gas. He set a wicked pace in the mid 40's but our group carried the momentum well. At one point my hybrid started to get a nosebleed, I looked down and the clock registered 67.4kph. .,$*¥€£^+. I didn't dare look down again. When we reached Unionville, big grins all round. We stopped briefly to congratulate ourselves on going so bloody fast!! but we were on a roll so wanted to get going again quickly so invoked a rule of only number 1s allowed. No number 2s (ask Lucas!). Geeky data said that our rolling average was 30kph on my new favourite 88km ride. Today was a fantastic ride and my companions Evan, Jason, Chris, Andre, Dave, Lucas made for a fine group to spend the morning with. Bring on next week.

Thought everyone in our large group read each other quite well. We worked hard at times, relaxing at others, especially around that special moment along Van Dorf when the deer bounded across the road just metres in front of us! Easily my ride of the year.

I should mention, that this large group had a wide range of skill and fitness levels. With a little structure and communication, we were able to hold off Jason, Jake & Neil for 45mins!!! To be fair to Jason, Jake and Neil, we weren't cruising, there were some attacks along Vandorf, creating a little separation, but we seemed to all come back together(in formation), and reap the benefits of a large group/peloton. Also, I think the "race-like" pace down Kennedy managed to help certain individual riders break 70-75kph(Dru). I know my max was just shy of 70kph and I was at the back of the pack, not being able to pass because of a cars behind us. I remember Andrew Mouck, Albert(amazing what a training camp in gets you), Bob(I think you are ready for Italy!) and Dru("hey it's downhill!")

@Andre W: there is the Whitby Wrangler, that is an east route.  I`ve been sticking to the same routes for Sundays because they seem to work for everyone.  I`ve been trying to transition Saturday riders to Sunday and these routes seem to be doing the trick.  As you can recall from last year, Sunday`s were traditionally super fast.  That said, feel free to eliminate any pitstops/coffee breaks from the route/ride.  They are always optional, but if I don't put them in, more members will wonder why.

Cheers,

Dan.

Sunday was a great ride, despite my seat bag velcro deciding to unhitch itself on Don Mills before York Mills. Once I emptied the contents into jersey pockets and tucked the bag in the front of my jersey, Kara, Ivana, Alex and I continued up Leslie to Van Dorf. Just before turning off Leslie we were passed by those big guys Jason referred to (from Dornellas's) and a group from Silent Sports.

Van Dorf was nice and had some gentle rollers, but the highlight was on Kennedy rolling south towards Unionville. Kara got into her tuck, and that was it! I glanced for a moment and saw 59.8 on the Garmin, before eyes were back on the road. Strava max speed said 60.1 so I will take that.

We met up with Alexx, Lana, Mel & Trish at Starbucks and joined them for the trip down Birchmount.

Great route while exploring new territory with Ivana, Kara and Alex. Thanks for your company and hope to ride this again.

By the way, shout out to Dan and LG for the capacity of those jersey pockets. I was ready to throw that seat bag away, but it fit in the back pocket and  the velcro fasteners will be sewn shut to prevent any repeat of Sunday's drama.
