HELP! Volunteers STILL Needed for Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon - Sunday OCT 16th 2011 - 9:30-3pm

Its that time of Year. This year, the marathon is being held a month later as not to coincide with the other marathon.

Here are the details for Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon(STWM):

 

Date: Sunday, October 16th, 2011

Volunteering Time: 9:30am-3pm (people get to sleep in this year!)

Location(s): Kingston Rd. Coxwell to Woodbine and then Queen Street from Woodbine to Neville Park.

Position: Course Marshals

Duties: Watch intersections & keep traffic off the course while the marathon(runners) are in progress.

To be provided: Volunteer t-shirt, snack pack, lunch + 1 Free entry into a 2012 CRS event


If you are interested in helping please comment(so I know) & email Charlotte at charlotte@canadarunningseries.com. She's in charge of place volunteers on the route.


*Also, if you know of young adults that require community service hours, this will also count towards that.

P.S. Oh, forgot to mention...at the end of the Marathon(for those that are interested), we'll go and grab a bite to eat and I'll buy the pitchers.  My way of saying thanks to those that can help out. Cheers.

Want to try and get 2 people per interection... the more the better.  Major intersections should have more than 3 people.  If you can come and help that's great.  If you have to leave early, just let me know and it should be ok.  Basically, we want to make sure the majority of the race comes through.  

 

Here is my cell if you need to get a hold of me in the morning.  Should be down at Queen and Hammersmith for 9am and I can position you based on the numbers that show.

BCC Rides

Cycling in the summer can be about casual riding, sprinting, spinning, big-ring hammerfests or what ever your chosen type of riding is. The BCC was founded for the sole purpose to network cyclists. It has grown into a successful club which accommodates Riders at almost all skill/fitness levels. Everyone should be able to participate and have fun at their respective levels.

 

Weekend Rides: 

Saturday

Saturday Morning
Start time is 8:00am early season, 7:00am as days get longer. Route distances vary from 55-120km and several pace groups are available. Saturday morning rides focus on a social vibe.

Sunday

Sunrise Sundays
Rides will start around sunrise. Rotating routes will focus on distances from 55-160km.  Remote start rides outside the GTA.

Weekly Rides:

 

Tuesday

Advanced Turbo Tuesdays
For this ride, advanced group riding and bike handling skills are required. You must also be aware of your limitations. Riding speed is 35kph+.

Thursday

Hillicious Thursdays
Starts at 5:40am. This ride includes Bayview, pottery rd, redway other local hills.

Tues/Thurs

CX/MTB Ride

Starts at 5:30AM. Bring your CX or MTB out for a great Don trail ride. Some weeks, we'll head to a local park to practice CX skills.
