Hello All,
A warm welcome to all the new BCC Members and welcome back to all the returning BCC'ers.
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the 2018 Season to get started I know I am!.
For those returning BCC'ers if you could take a moment to share some of your memorable experiences as a member off the BCC, just so some of the new members and potential members can get a flavour of what to expect in the Spring.
Once again thank you for the continued support! We're almost there:-)
Cheers,
Dan.
Let’s go 2018!
Some top moments of mine over the past few years:
It's hard being new to a group, especially a bunch of spandex clad, two wheel riding, carbon fibre "elite cyclists". That's how I felt in 2009 when I joined the club after not being on a bike for about 25 years. Turns out - everybody was pretty nice, encouraging and actually not very "elite" at all. (Well okay, there are a few!). We all put on our pants (or our bibshorts) one leg at a time and no matter what our backgrounds we all come to the BCC as people who also happen to enjoy cycling. As nice as our group is let's remember it can be a bit intimidating to new riders so let's be sure to welcome them, encourage them, and integrate them into this BBCC (Big Beaches Cycling Club) family. Looking forward to riding with you guys in a few months
I have known Dan for over 15 years and watched as he started the BCC in 2006 but never felt I had the time to join a "formal" club. I eventually became a member three years ago and it propelled my love for cycling even more and I wish I had joined sooner. More importantly, I never expected to make the friendships I did with people that share my passion for riding that live in my neighborhood.
The things that I love most about the BCC is that it truly is a club for everyone and Dan has instilled this as a core value of our group from the start. Beginner to advanced can enjoy riding and push themselves as far as they like in a safe and encouraging way. The BCC also makes me want to be a better cyclist in every way....safer, stronger, and all of the above.
Looking forward to the 2018 season...!
I've been cycling for many years but never had as much fun -- and improved as much -- until I joined BCC. Dan is a welcoming and diligent coach. I was impressed with the overriding concern for safety.
But it was the friendship that's overwhelming -- I have made close friends, people who are much fun to be with off the bike as on it.
They inspire and push you, give you great tips for cycling (and bike purchases)...
You'll be impressed by the team spirit and the team help. We cycle hard, laugh hard, push each other and spend great weekends together... what could be better?
As a woman in the club, I have found the experience to be nothing short of amazing. The members are friendly, there are no egos and everyone is eager to help. I have made some amazing, good friends that I socialize with both on and off the bike. I'm by no means an expert at riding, therefore, have no idea what they talk about most of the time...(VO2 max, where the hell are we? Science class?)
To to be honest the club has made the rider I am today.
I will echo the sentiments from the previous comments, and cannot believe that this will be my 6th season riding with BCC. The camaraderie and encouragement from other riders keeps me coming back week after week. Over the years I have made some solid friendships that continue outside the club, but the one thing we share in common is our love of cycling. There is always someone to help when a member suffers a mechanical, whether it is offering a tube and CO2 cartridge, or posting pics on Instagram during the repair. Thanks for all the support over the years and I'm looking forward to the 2018 season. Kudos to Dan for his leadership and all he does for the club.
OOOOOoooooo
It's Road Bike time!!!
Mosport classic anyone? :)

Cycling in the summer can be about casual riding, sprinting, spinning, big-ring hammerfests or what ever your chosen type of riding is. The BCC was founded for the sole purpose to network cyclists. It has grown into a successful club which accommodates Riders at almost all skill/fitness levels. Everyone should be able to participate and have fun at their respective levels.
