Windy Sunday Danish Complete

If you didn't know, it was cold! 24 brave riders came out to make the trek for the danish(Thanks Emile for the Count). When I got there, there were no more danishes, but I had a chocolate croissant - WOW! BTW there is a pic of the Choc Croissant - you gotta have one!

Welcome to the new riders.... funny.... one of them asked me, "Does the BCC always stop at lights?"

I replied: "Yes, always, especially when there are cars at the intersection. The last thing I want is to support a double standard of Cyclist and Car Drivers. If we Stop, we demand respect when we are moving, if we don't cars tend to try harder to intimidate/scare or run us off the road."

He replied: "Great!"

Till next week.

As an addendum there appears there was a group of 24 and a second group of one (1). I arrived a little late to Timmies and started out on my own. When I realized I would not catch the group I relaxed and did 80 km on my own turning when my trusty Garmin said 40 km along the Lakeshoe in Oakville. My big chuckle was finding myself on the on ramp to the Gardiner on my return leg. I applied the brakes , turned around and corrected the error. I will be early next week.

Oh, forgot to mention. Thanks to Dave Adams for staying with me to check on 2 riders and Nick B. as well for helping pull across burnhamthorpe. Your help was much appreciated.

Cheers,

Dan.

What a windy ride! I fully expected to get dropped by Yonge St., but was able to hang on until Mississauga Rd.! Woo hoo! Thanks so much to the speedy guys at the front for pulling us along and doing all the work in such a strong headwind. It was so nice to be able to tuck in and ride with the group! I hope one day I can take my turn at the front and help out too! Thanks for keeping a good pace and keeping everyone together.

Thanks to Dan for marshalling our smaller group up the Mississauga Rd. loop and all the way home. We all worked together and fought the wind together on the way back. (Where was the payback? Headwind in every direction!) Thanks for the great company, everyone. Trish, I can't believe you had so much energy after doing the zoo loop in 70km winds on Saturday!

A good ride! My legs are still aching, but I'm glad I came out.

Sorry about that Dan to coming back and check on us. By the time I i pass the under the bridge its too late to catch up, so I have to make a quick tun to Dundas. Thanks Dan for the ride back.

Good shepherding of a large group Dan. Sorry I missed you guys connecting up in Clarkson. I waited for 15 mins but was either way faster than you guys (which I sincerely doubt!) or behind you. Had a good (but lonely) ride back to TO and hooked up with a small group of other riders around Long Branch for a few klicks. Good day!

Way to go guys!!! Geez, I feel like a wimp - took the kids to Reptilia (indoors) instead of the zoo (outdoors) yesterday just because I didn't want to WALK in the wind and stuff, nevermind ride! Although I did piggypack Alistair up to Grinder on Saturday (yikes) while Duncan rode his bike, and got caught in the torrential downpour that happened at around 11am...so I suppose I had my fill of outdoor time this weekend! Way to go everyone - looking forward to riding this coming weekend and damn I hope that it doesn't snow again! :)

Kara, you have nothing to worry about! The fact that you hung on for the whole ride yesterday is testament to the fact that you're tough as nails and a good strong rider already. We were glad to have you in the group yesterday, and it's great to have you in the club. See you soon!

I second Alexx's commentary Kara. Despite what looked like some feeling of "pain" you just kept grinding hard to keep on the draft. With a number of these rides under your belt, you will most certainly be able to get to the front.
